And I quote:
"Don’t wish for people to suffer damnation for opposing us or doing evil stuff. Don’t want 'the gays' to burn in hell."
Sounds like passing judgement to me.
"Uh, no. The literal point of that phrase is that you are NOT the sin that you may be committing. Ergo, we are not passing judgement on you. We recognize certain actions as being sinful (offensive to God) and cannot condone those actions. I'm not here to pass judgement on you, I haven’t and I won’t."
You're still calling people sinners - "love the sinner." Seriously, it's right there in the statement! Why can't it just be "love thy neighbor?" See? Wasn't that a better approach?
BTW, I am Christian and I am angry at my fellow Christians who are trotting around with a "holier-than-thou" attitude with subsequent impositions of their beliefs on my rights. I see it all the time and don't say it doesn't happen because I and many others will stand as witnesses to this. I have been called a pedophile, a pervert, a freak, a devil, a heretic, apostate and all by people claiming to be Christian. Deut 22:5 is a favorite. The creation is another favorite.
Yeah, let's go back to the days of dunce caps, slavery, suffrage, beatings, stoning, lynching and do it all in the name of religion. We love the sinner so much that we are going to get you to Christ faster by taking your life. I'm sorry, the absolute hypocrisy is insane. The current batch of laws coming out of "religious conservatives" is flat out stupid. I've listened to far more legislative sessions than I care to over the past 6 months and guess what has been a common tool used? The bible. So many quote the bible. It's disgusting. Why don't we start quoting the Quran? No? Aren't we supposed to be a country of separation of church and state?
