Needs some serious bleaching to remove the filth. Some stains will never come out.
I wonder how many rooms are painted orange.... Oh sorry, I am typing out loud again.

Assuming Biden wins AZ & NV, for real, you'd be absolutely correct, 270 exactly. Biden has PA in the bag, anyway, and very likely GA as well. Recount? Hand audit? Have at it. Neither race is really close enough to change the result.

What will really piss Trump off, and would be funny as hell, is if the recount went against him and gave Biden even more votes.

So GA is going to count 5 millions votes by hand and get it done by the 20th? ok.

So how does one hand count bar codes? That’s all that’s present on in-person voting in GA...just a piece of semi-cardboardish paper with a bar code printed upon it.

So rescanning the bar codes should produce absolutely no difference in their results, right? So the only votes of consequence via a vis a hand recount are the absentee ballots.

Yeah I don't get why they're doing a "hand recount" however that's defined. People are going to be a lot less accurate than a validated machine that can do the same thing 1,000,000,000 times over with a miniscule error rate

It’s been framed as an audit. SoS says one voting area is audited each election and it just so happens the Pres election is the one chosen this time to hand audit.

Guess, tho, this will remove any teeth from GOP talking points about GA results.

Naaaaa...who the hell am I trying to fool? The two GOP senators in their runoffs will continue to blame the entire Repub admin and legislative for being closet Dems cause, you know, they’re being forced...FORCED I TELLS YOU!!!...to participate in said runoffs.

He's basically just Resident Trump, at this point.

More like rodent Trump. And anyone who has ever put up with a rodent problem, it’s very hard to rid your environment of rodents, as we are witnessing in trying to exterminate Donald Trump from the Whitehouse. When you have a rodent problem you can either try to remedy the problem on your own, or.... you can call in a professional. We have found our professional rodent exterminator, Joe Biden. Yes, Joe Biden, professional rodent exterminator.

That's not accurate. Voter selections appear on the actual ballot along with the barcode-

It's a peculiar way of doing things.

Just an update on life within my Trumpie family members. The Trumpies are complaining IN A COUNTRY WITH SUCH GREAT TECHNOLOGY, WHY CAN’T THE MACHINES THAT COUNT BALLOTS ACCURATELY COUNT BALLOTS? So, apparently, bad machines miscount ballots for Trump as ballots for Joe Biden. Just thought that was worth mentioning and.... chuckling about. I hope that makes your day. 😀

That's how IL does it too, I voted on a touchscreen machine and it prints out the ballot with a barcode and all the selections that you feed into the trash can looking ballot box. Kind of nice to check if it properly recorded what you selected.

Funny...didn’t notice printed names on my ballot and I assure you, I looked. There was gibberish in addition to the bar code, but nothing that was plainly readable, and was very much the rule across several rural-ish counties in NE GA, at least from a few who actually paid attention.

The real problem with the GA issue, per 538 blog, is that this "audit" doesn't count as the official recount. If the outcome after the first recount is still close, then Trump could demand another.

Georgia is trying to split the middle, from the way it presents things: it's going to humor Trump by conducting the audit and recounts... but it's also realistic that this won't likely change the outcome. More of a way to get Trump off the state's back than a sinister ploy to overturn the results.

Yeah. They could have done an audit without a full recount and then done the inevitable recount that Trump would request. They way they have done it means two recounts, which is ridiculous.

Are they re-counting ALL the votes in GA or just a portion of it?
As I understand it, the audit calls for them to do a random sampling of the ballots with the size of the sample being based on the closeness of the race chosen. But the race is close enough that the "random sampling" would have to be on the order of the number of ballots cast, so they're just going to audit the whole thing since that'll actually be easier.

I think Raffensperger wants to leave no doubt in the minds of Georgia voters.

Keep your guard up!

This seems to be describing more-or-less the same thing.

I've read or heard multiple different descriptions of the same scenario, some from well-before the election. There seems to be nothing set in stone about how the states pick their EC voters - the rules just say the states pick them, nothing says it _has_ to be by popular vote.
You really have a ridiculous electoral system. Why, having got rid of the monarch and starting from scratch, did you come up with this baroque dog's breakfast of a system?

OK, how about Resident Weevil (for a bonus video game reference)

The primary reason we came up with it was to protect slavery.

As for the rest of it, it is an absolute outrage that Republicans are even considering what would amount to a coup because they can’t handle losing. It’s something to keep an eye on but it’s probably not a problem - while legislatures can decide to award electors any way they want, there’s longstanding law that they can’t make changes retroactively. Ie: if they wanted to give Trump all their electors regardless of the vote outcome they needed to do it before November 3rd.

I mean, we didn't pick it. White male slave owners from 250 years ago who limited the vote to themselves thought it was a good system.

I think the argument is that if we change that system, then it would be tyranny or whatever.

Yep, equality == oppression to con's

You keep saying this about retroactive application, but do you have an article that supports this position? Because what I've read in The Atlantic (which may be alarmist) is that the Electoral Count Act is poorly written and open to interpretations. It's not completely without precedent either. In 1960, which was Hawaii's first election, they sent dueling certificates from electors to Congress. Because VP Richard Nixon knew he'd lost and probably to preserve his political future, as presiding officer of the Senate, he accepted the certificate for JFK.

Here's a Politico op piece on this subject:

A better article, referenced by Axios:

In short, it's a true long shot but DJT has no qualms about burning the country to the ground for his personal benefit.

There are 21 states that don't have laws requiring the electorial votes go to the majority winner in the state. The problem is a few of those states are the swing states.
