A serious question - won't it look weak for Biden to appoint Obama as SoS? Keeping Obama around, clinging to his old boss etc.
For a lot of people this would be true. However, Obama's more than a capable appointment to the position, he's very arguably way better than anyone else he could come up with. I don't think there would be that taint on it.

I love this country, but a lot of it is really really fucked up. Trump speaks to racists and shitty people. There are a ton of both in America, it's sad but it's the truth. I live in Riverside CA, a few cities over is a city called Fontana, or as the locals lovingly call it Fontucky. It's full of good ol boys who all proudly fly Trump banners. Who on the television speaks out in support of trump?

Rosanne
Kid Rock
Ted Nugent
Mike Ditka
Brett Farve
Scott Baio
Dana White
Among those I know of:

Rosanne
Kid Rock
Ted Nugent
Ditka
Farve

I'm not into TV, so Rosanne really means nothing to me. Kid Rock, never heard/seen him perform, he's obviously some kind of media creation, really stupid name he took. Nugent, yeah, I know he's known for his right wing leanings, sad for a guy who was once a true rocker (70's). Ditka, well, he's always come off as an ultra macho character, and not hard to see him as a man who can't appreciate the finer things in life including love and compassion, a natural Trumpie. Farve! That one surprised me but when I saw that he'd played golf with Trump, I had to wonder and figure he'd be a Trumpie. I think Trump's played with Tom Brady too, and wondered if Brady is a Trumpy. I'm not a Brady fan, but after that I'm definitely rooting against him.

So he'll sabotage us with inaction on the pandemic, financial relief & the transition of power. He'll spread as much FUD as possible on his way out, damaging faith in the integrity of the electoral process & the legitimacy of our govt.

I'm sort of wondering what sabotaging us with inaction on the pandemic would look like compared to his admin's business as usual?

The goal of the Democrats all along has been to elect a President whose public discourse did not consist entirely of unhinged hate and lies. And by succeeding in electing such a President, the Democrats proved that animosity was unquestionably one-sided.

For many Repubs, during the campaign season they've behaved much like what a highly agitated cornered skunk would, up to and including spraying that viciously acrid parfum at any and all that dare to point an accusing finger at them for supporting such a cowardly, self-interested liar whose only qualification was/is that he can bring out the worst in people for his own purposes.

I see the election hasn't helped you get smarter. Pity.

Yes, class! The kind of class that lets outraged magats run people over with cars (66 incidents just in Florida last time I checked) The kind of class that makes people try to kidnap, possibly execute, a US Governor. The class required to undermine and discredit elections results, road rage on people with Biden stickers, or maybe even show up at polling centers armed, ready to submit fake ballots. Don't like the count? Act classy and cry out conspiracy horseshit with zero evidence. Take that you uncivilized libs!

Yeah you conservatives really made a buzz standing up to Trump's attempts to ruin American institutions. Doubly so about all the militia types promising violence on democrats.

Please, take your delusions of a high road and pound them right up your ass. Thanks!

Good lord, do we really need to revisit who exactly commits terrorism in America? Who exactly thinks the Constitution begins and ends with the 2nd amendment? That white males are the true victims in society? Gotta love S0me0nes consistently pathetic false equivalencies.

The Republican party embraced these Trumptards because as the minority party they had to.

Good riddance and lets all enjoy the delicious fake conservative tears of the MAGA idiots and their enablers. Time and time again Republicans prove they are incapable of running modern America with their zero sum game ideology. May they all suffocate under the weight of progressive polices for the next 12 years while (of course!) enjoying the benefits despite themselves.

So true. Trump has been a lame fuck since he took office. I do not expect whatever he does between now and 1/21 to be any different.

We should just tell them to smile more like the fuckers say to women all the time.

Declaring that he'll send in military to any areas that try to enforce shutdowns or possibly even mask mandates.

That Trump double/triple/quadrupled down on that "no pandemic is bigger or more important than he is" is going to be a dubious hallmark of his legacy. It was amazing to see him and his "loyal" base stubbornly stick to that scheme that added untold thousands of deaths to the toll that the pandemic was/is still mounting, many of them from their own ranks.

An incredibly stupid amoral thing to do, yet there it is and here we are still reeling from the effects of their arrogance, their openly defiant stance against their own sense of self-preservation.

Hwy guiz, does anyone know where the meetups are to do mass looting and destruction of property?

Perhaps it's because there's no injustice to protest regarding the election.

I wonder if folks who gleefully repost this understand how tone deaf it is comparing their imagined harm to decades of injustice. Disagree with their methods if you want of BLM, but it's the pinnacle of white privilege in America to believe there's the remotest equivalence.

According to NYT, Philadelphia county actually shifted red relative to 2016 (but probably was still more net+ Biden based on big turnout). Here's what their graphic looks like:

It was a bunch of other counties that shifted the other direction. Article is behind a paywall:

He's not gonna have any time, much less the motivation, to deal with Covid-19 or anything else on his way out. I highly suspect he'll be knee deep scrubbing evidence of official corruption; and I still think there's about a coin flip's chance he'll step down early to accept an expansive pardon from Mike Pence.

Has Trump really been this silent for a day or so? Got to say, I'm strangely disappointed because I was expected a very active weekend of whining and bitching and soiled diapers being flung around the WH.

He might be suffering a nervous breakdown. Not sure that's possible. Don't think he has enough marbles.

He's been tweeting today. The usual unsupported claims, including retweeting Breitbart (likely because even Fox wouldn't bite).

So riddle me this: Did Biden win because he was such a better choice than Trump, or did Biden win because Trump was such a worse choice than him? Something of both? Neither? Then what?

Both... but seeing Biden outperforming Obama in some black neighborhoods suggests that Trump was/is way worse than Obama was good.

Something Biden can do quite easily and can't be blocked by the right guard resistance. He will be able to bring some calm and reassurance to our allies.

While it has to start somewhere, one does not simply un-ring that bell.
The world will NEVER be as it was.

And I predict we have NOT seen the last of Trumpism and his voter's faith based alt-reality bubble. They will fully wrap themselves up in their own media bias, become a 100% bona-fide religion and begin anew with a major recruitment drive. Their next leader will be younger, smarter, (low bar I know) but most importantly they will have 100% devotion from all within the new Republican Party. Science, facts, truth.... reality itself will bear no consequence on their agenda, their message, or their actions.

Soon enough the GOP will hatch from its proverbial cocoon and the next creature to rise will not allow for civil discourse. For we will share no common ground on which to establish a dialogue. Nor would they ever accept an election result. If it is not already too late in #2020, then it soon will be in the years to follow.

WTF. How did this guy get 70,000,000 votes to get a 2nd term? I just don't get it. Americans must have their heads up their ass.

Partisan based religious zealotry. The ONLY thing that mattered was the R next to his name. And to a degree, vice versa for his opponent not having one. Neither man actually had to campaign for themselves - it is all done "grass roots" style on social media by their respective zealots. America has entered a post-truth world and the dangers grow by the year.

Note, your country will not be spared by this disease of the mind. It is purely a human malady in coping with modern communications. We are ahead of the curve on showing the world where this will lead. When the amusing cry of #fakenews became #fakevotes it dawned on me just how far we had fallen. And how far we may yet go. Our darkest days are straight ahead.

I am a Brady fan. He recently made some comments about Corona virus that somewhat minimized the deaths, which I did not like. Otherwise, I think he has attempted to steer clear of publicly at least endorsing Trump.

Yea, this was my thought too: what a mess he will make of Covid for the rest of his term. Then it hit me, he cant make it any worse than he already has. Any kind of effective action so far against it has come from governors and local officials. Fortunately I live in a state where the governor has handled the pandemic well, although cases are rising to very concerning levels now. And despite this, the Republican controlled state house of representatives is trying to declare his emergency powers invalid.

Not really true for Biden. I think Trump and the Repubs outposted Biden something like 5 or 10 to 1 on social media. The Dems really need to take better advantage of this platform. AOC claimed part of the reason the Dems lost a lot of down ballot races was because of lack of using social media effectively. ( I dont always agree with AOC, but I think she is probably right on this.0

You can probably thank Kraft for making Brady a Trump friend.
