Man it sure is great to have a president to have some faith again
I was impressed with both their speeches. Did they have teleprompters? They kept scanning the area so it appeared not. Joe went almost the whole way with not the hint of a stutter. They memorized their speeches?

Caught most of Biden's speech on the radio. While not the world's best orator, what he said was important; unite the US and rejoin the global community, essentially right the course of the ship. He might not be the best president in history, but he will be presidential.

Edit: On reflection, I will say that there is way too much godliness in American politics and political speeches. Being that overtly religious in the Antipodes would be a massive turn off for the majority of voters.
Joe's not gonna have photo ops holding up a bible! He will go to church on Sundays, something Trump didn't do.

One of the positive side effects of electing a competent person who understands how to govern, isn't a complete narcissist, respects science, and has compassion for others, is that people don't riot, protest, or march, because there's no reason to.

Republicans might want to give that a try next time instead of picking a shit bag.
The republican party could have denied trump the nomination. But they chose politics, party, and power over country.
And no platform in 2020... we don't need no stinkin' platform.

The fraud is the Republican Party.

I don't think anyone has picked up on this yet.

Biden has done what no other President has ever done. Since the state's inception, OHIO has voted for the next president. Except this year!
Yeah, fuck Ohio. I have met a lot of people from Ohio who were extraordinary people. They all had one thing in common... they left Ohio.

I don't know how good a President he will wind up being, but he sounds like a President, and I think we need that right now - some soothing, calming, hopeful, peaceful words for a turbulent time.
I thought he looked fantastic, best I've seen him in this looonngggg election cycle.

In the 32 elections from 1896, Ohio has had only three misses in the Presidential election (Thomas E. Dewey in 1944, Richard Nixon in 1960 and Donald Trump in 2020).

You are right. I was going off of what CNN said. They were wrong.

I hope that the Trump team just concedes and stops with the legal battles. People keep talking about Bush vs Gore for some reason, but that was around ~350 votes after recounts and was revolved around inconsistent recounts and counting, and were nothing close to the current situation.

While AZ might go Trump's way, IMO I'd give Biden >50% of keeping it but it is very close, Trump will need to flip at least two states anyway as GA is looking bluer by the minute (Biden is 10k+ votes ahead). PA is already ~40k+ for Biden, Michigan is 150k, Wi is 20k and NV is 25K+. All of these, including GA, are way out of recount territory.

IMO, no matter what Trump does now, there will be millions of Americans that will believe that there was wide-spread fraud and that the Democrats cheated their way into the Presidency. There's no reason to increase those numbers - especially as, except for the presidency, the elections went pretty well for the Republicans everywhere else (Senate and House, and I've also heard that they had good results in local houses).

I still think SoS for a while might work out.

A serious question - won't it look weak for Biden to appoint Obama as SoS? Keeping Obama around, clinging to his old boss etc.

WTF. How did this guy get 70,000,000 votes to get a 2nd term? I just don't get it. Americans must have their heads up their ass.

I love this country, but a lot of it is really really fucked up. Trump speaks to racists and shitty people. There are a ton of both in America, it's sad but it's the truth. I live in Riverside CA, a few cities over is a city called Fontana, or as the locals lovingly call it Fontucky. It's full of good ol boys who all proudly fly Trump banners. Who on the television speaks out in support of trump?

Rosanne
Kid Rock
Ted Nugent
Mike Ditka
Brett Farve
Scott Baio
Dana White

In my opinion, I'd consider none good people, but that's just my opinion as they all have plenty of fans. Of who I listed most have said racist, or borderline racist shit. I'd say at absolute best a majority of politicians wouldn't want any of them speaking out in support. When you bring up famous supporters to Trump fans and mention these names. It's either "they're good people" or "there are so many other Trump supports in Hollywood, but they have to keep quiet about it because they know they'll be blackballed if they speak in support" If you Google celebrities who support Trump, it's not what I'd call a flattering list.

I'd think a president who basically condones white supremacy wouldn't be able to get 70 million votes. But the results just go to show how many fucked up people we have in the country. And to add on Trump does shit that should make it worse for him

"the blacks love me"
refused to condone white supremacy during the debate.
he called military people cowards. Yet still gets 70 fuckin million votes. It really blows my mind. Makes me wish back in the colonial days the civil war would have gone differently. After this election, I wonder if America might not have been better as 2 separate countries.

I too wish Biden much success going forward as the President of the US, when he succeeds we all succeed.

Maybe he can calm down all the animosity from both sides.
Okay I will give credit to the vocal supporters here. Accepting the results of the election. Can't be said of the left and would fight a second term of him. But this bring said, plenty of fools in general bothsiding "Not my president!!!!" this time even though they mocked people for doing it in 2016.

Getting off topic from this point, but damn Rise McGowan still not accepting she was wrong for believing the Tara Reade lies. She still not accepting Biden. Yes rape survivor and getting horrible backlash for sticking to this belief against Biden, but open your eyes girl!

It was interesting comparing Biden's physical condition, even after his jog to the podium and that fairly long, high energy speech to that of Trump appearing before the cameras sometime after his round of golf (all from riding in a golf cart). Biden looked fit and fresh, Trump looked exhausted, worn out and at least a decade older than Biden.

Trump can still cause a lot more damage to the USA in his lame duck era, but hopefully he sticks to pardoning all his cronies (I'm certain he will issue a bogus pardon to himself as well) and his tweeting. Trump became irrelevant last night in my eyes and I suspect a lot of other Americans as well.

Very classy to post that, we all need trump to now stop the nonsense and frivolous lawsuits and concede
both for his own part in history and to let this country have a shot of bridging the divide among us.

Yeah I think sabotaging the country after his loss is probably less likely because that would take energy and interest. He's not looking like someone with a great surplus of those at the moment. I still think he goes to FL and rarely if ever heads back to DC before January.

There will be a few more firings, some pardons (less than many people think though), and a lot of complaining/denial.

I see the election hasn't helped you get smarter. Pity.

Yes, class! The kind of class that lets outraged magats run people over with cars (66 incidents just in Florida last time I checked) The kind of class that makes people try to kidnap, possibly execute, a US Governor. The class required to undermine and discredit elections results, road rage on people with Biden stickers, or maybe even show up at polling centers armed, ready to submit fake ballots. Don't like the count? Act classy and cry out conspiracy horseshit with zero evidence. Take that you uncivilized libs!

Yeah you conservatives really made a buzz standing up to Trump's attempts to ruin American institutions. Doubly so about all the militia types promising violence on democrats.

Please, take your delusions of a high road and pound them right up your ass. Thanks!

So he'll sabotage us with inaction on the pandemic, financial relief & the transition of power. He'll spread as much FUD as possible on his way out, damaging faith in the integrity of the electoral process & the legitimacy of our govt.

The goal of the Democrats all along has been to elect a President whose public discourse did not consist entirely of unhinged hate and lies. And by succeeding in electing such a President, the Democrats proved that animosity was unquestionably one-sided.
