Faithless electors will only come into play if the total margin is razor thin. But what if a state's raw margin is thin, as it is in WI (and perhaps a few other states)? The Constitution is somewhat vague on this, with language suggesting the state's legislature can decide on its electors. Only about a dozen states have it in law that the electors must follow the will of the electorate!

So yes, it's somewhat important to our "democracy" that Biden not only gets to 270, but picks off PA and maybe even GA. Any buffer takes away some of the juice from Trump's bullhorn that the election was rigged.

I'm certainly disgusted with the results, but it doesn't shock me that Trump got all these votes. The Qanon and disinformation campaign out there is so strong. I know many people on public assistance and such that believe that crap and think Trump is their true savior. They all think they're smarter than everyone else with their Youtube education.

If we get another 4 years of Trump, I almost wish the republicans would eliminate all public assistance/entitlement programs and such for real. Get rid of min. wage and all that. They can come do some home improvements for me at 1.50 per hour. F it!!!

And, this is exactly why he wanted to stack the Supreme Court in his favor. If this goes to the Supreme Court you can count this election over IMO.

This was curious to me since last night. The % of total counted is just a projection, right? And we know in many states, turnout set records. I imagine the models for how many total votes would be cast in each state were somewhat conservative, even taking to account expected higher volume due to mail-in voting.

OTOH, I worked with a fellow from Vietnam who came over as a boat person, and he was one of the most hard ass people on immigration that I ever knew. I havent seen him for many years now, but I bet he is a staunch Trump supporter.

Vietnamese have pretty much always been and remain the most staunchly conservative demographic within the US Asian diaspora (including all of Asia, meaning subcontinent and such).

All renaming votes are also absentees where Biden is doing well. Per twitter this margin is expected to further improve as most of what's left is reportedly from Wayne Co.

I think Legal Eagle had a video that talked about them last week, and the worst part being is that there's usually little repercussion (or if there is, it isn't enforced) for an elector not casting their vote for the required candidate.
