hahaha that one completely slipped past me!

In any event, I still think this "could" happen, as unlikely as it sounds. I was just thinking about it from a logical business standpoint standpoint.

With Live, MS is going right for the market that Apple dominates with their movie/music download service. In order to bring the battle to MS's backyard they could align themselves with Sony's PSN (because Apple does not make a console and hell will freeze over before they make an agreement with MS) as there could be 20 million potential customers by the end of 2008 to sell downloadable content to (in addition to PC users and Apple TV users). Sony benefits because with Blu-Ray winning they really are the king of the all-in-one media center of the future.

damn shame. fight night 3 is one of my favourite games on 360. had no real interest in boxing until this game..immense, and extremely polished.

just hope that new ufc game is good

I rented, and played it pretty much till the end of a career with a made boxer... and it was extremely repetitious, albeit very pretty. I've got all the achievements except for one. I enjoyed it for a while, but when all is said and done... it just didn't do it for me.

Oh, I don't know of any boxer who gains skill by wearing a different pair of trunks.

I'll make a simple one.

PS3 closes the gap with the 360. 360 will still finish the year in the lead, but with more games and stronger support for Blu Ray, PS3 wins the 08 battle and the overall margin becomes much less.

Here goes,

#1. Blizzard announces as part of the merger with Activision Lou of GH3 fame will be the main character in Diablo 3. Which will come packaged with it's own demon summoning circle peripheral and be available on all major platforms in Nov. The PC port is push back to sometime in '09.

- All we'll see of Starcraft 2 this year is a few short videos.
- HD-DVD manages to hang in there but by the end of the year will be just about dead.
- Duke Nukem Forever gets delayed.
- Wii price drop to $200 for christmas
- A new Wii color is introduced for christmas.
- The Wii will continue to be mostly out of stock but store sightings are more frequent.
- Nintendo surprises everyone and decides to release a channel for the Wii people might use more than twice.
- WiiFit causes the casual gaming crowd to buy a third game. (WiiSport and WiiPlay)
- Smash Bros causes the regular gaming crowd to briefly stop bashing the Wii for casual games.
- Nintendo does something about all the crap games being released for the system. (please?)
- The 360 will keep it's lead over the PS3.
- The PS3 will start selling better but software sales will be lower due to people buying the system as a blu-ray player.
- The DS will out sell them all.

I agree.

FN3 was weak as hell and had no depth. The game became so repetitive. It was fun for about 3 days when I realized there was nothing to this game. Online was haymaker central as well. I didn't even finish through the career mode because it was just not fun.

Sure it looked great but the game had nothing to it.

Ready At Dawn (whom is also working on the God of War PSP game) is doing the Wii port.

Welp, looking at my predictions... Here's where I see myself standing thus far (agree or disagree?)

Mostly Correct

- Wii Fit, as much as people make fun of it, will be a big success... also, expect Nintendo to offer replacement balance boards that will allow for 350 pounds instead of just 300 like in Japan because Americans are big and fat
- Tons more shovelware and very few good titles for the Wii
- Gears of War 2 will be released Q4 2008
- Burnout Paradise, while not a huge hit with longtime fans of the series, will enjoy plenty of success
- Army of Two, Q2 2008, will be released to generally poor reviews.
- PS3 will finally update the XMB to somehow work in games, will start charging for a premium online service.
- Microsoft will continue growing their digitial video distribution
- Even with the PS3's help, Folding@Home will still not discover anything big
- PS3 will finally gain ground due to the fact that HD-DVD is no longer a viable HD video format. It will still be mostly used as a media device instead of a game device.

Mostly Incorrect

- Wii shortages will subside by Summer
- Grand Theft Auto 4 will miss the first quarter and slip till second quarter, framerates will suck but everyone will like it anyway because you can bang hookers. Media attacks Rockstar again.
- Metal Gear Solid 4 will miss the second quarter, probably slip till third or fourth, Hideo Kojima will OD on faux-drugs that he got his faux-rock star persona

Mostly Neither

- LittleBigPlanet will be released Q4, get large initial sales then fall off the planet due to too many user created monster flying penisis
- Final Fantasy 13 will be released Q3 2008
- Duke Nukem Forever, not released in 2008
- Sony's Home is deemed "neat, but basically pointless" and effectively fails.
- With the advent of the coming digital broadcast mandate by the government, Americans will be buying new HD TVs this year and look to both the 360 and PS3 to provide content for them. 360 and PS3 will enjoy healthy sales

Well... for varying definitions of "very good". But I did get the release date right.

This one is at least closer to reality. Mid-Q3, it wasn't that hard to find a Wii anymore, but everyone (sans Sony) has problems over the holidays.

* Toshiba, Paramount, and Universal will drag out the format war through 2008.

Well, I got that one dramatically wrong.

* Spore will be huge and well-received.

That one was right, but wasn't much of a difficult prediction.

* Counterstrike: Source will be released as DLC on the PS3 and 360.

I am a sad panda that this didn't happen.

* Significant Mass Effect DLC will renew interest in the title, ala Oblivion.

Does Bring Down the Sky count?

* Mass Effect 2 will be announced, and it will still be a 360 exclusive.

Total miss. WHERE IS ME2?!

* PSN Home will launch in Q2, but users will be underwhelmed.

Well, it got released in Q4, but it was at least underwhelming. Whew!

* Mercenaries 2 will receive rave reviews.

Wow, I totally blew this one.

* Faith in the PS3's gaming abilities will be renewed, but shaky ports will continue to haunt it.

Pretty much correct.

* The Windows Media Center Extender (different than the dashboard!) capabilities of the 360 will finally be updated.

Does the Windows 7 preview count? I'm going to count it!

* Hail-Mary Prediction: $200 Wii and 360 Arcade by summer 2008.

Well, the $200 Arcade happened.

* Hail-Mary Prediction: The PS3 and/or the 360 supports MKV by the end of 2008.

Yeah, there's a reason this one was a long shot...

yea i think i mainly thought that simply because of the sales of halo 3. the franchise is a cashcow.
