I said this and confronted many GOPers with it before he even won the primary - strip all the politics away. Is Trump a good person? Is he a smart person? Is he a compassionate person? The answer is "no" every time. So now toss politics onto the pile and I don't get how you could still vote for a person that clearly is not good at their core.

Because they only cared that Trump gave them a way to try and deflect the blame for their own problems onto someone else and he promised them easy solutions. Its what con artists do and these people were all to willing to be conned.

You ain't kidding. His supporters are exactly the type who join cults AND DID. In a culture controlled by a desire for instant gratification they wanted to believe Trump's wealth and (highly questionable) influence could miraculously give them everything they ever wanted. It's just the things they want are hateful and cruel because part of the instant gratification they want is making people suffer who don't agree with them or look like them.
