I agree that corruption is a problem, but, the larger problem is how ignorant people are about science. People really do think that because we have a cold winter that climate change is fake. Try explaining how climate change can actually cause fluctuations and thus cold winters is actually a sign of climate change and watch their eyes gloss over.
Again, I see this in a different way than you do and definitely prefer my own take on this than yours. When you describe how ignorant people are you see it as them lacking information and that all they need is the truth. I see something different. I see that they are ignorant not for lack of knowledge but because they want to be. For one thing they have been told they are too stupid to comprehend things from childhood, having lived in a culture of put downs and disrespect. Look what liberals are calling them here in this thread. and in part they believe it so they avoid any discussion that requires a modicum of brain power. Also, they have substituted the respect that was lost to feeling stupid while denying that with the ego satisfaction of belief in some ideology they have been told makes them normal people.

So the issue isn’t providing better information, it’s dealing with why people don’t want to know, with figuring how to get around the fact they have become their own worst enemies and see truth as a an emotional threat.

"U.S. Major Landfalling Hurricanes Down 50% Since the 1930s"
"While the wind, storm surge, and freshwater flooding from Category 1 Hurricane Florence will no doubt cause massive damage, we should remember that – historically speaking – major landfalling hurricanes were more frequent in past decades.

Contrary to popular perception, the number of major hurricanes making landfall in the U.S. has dropped by an average of more than 50% since the 1930s:"

Check out who you are linking to:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Spencer_(scientist)

And follow this related link:

Or are you already aware that your already aware you are quoting a so called scientist who has political motivations and is paid by people who have financial interests that are threatened by actions to prevent climate change.

You are either ignorant of the fact you are being mislead, or are a willing part of selling the future lives of children so as to protect yourself from feeling any responsibility. This guy you linked is part of the same bunch that say second hand smoke is safe. What kind of person sells his soul for money. That is some really bad self hate to do that.

In 1998 Jeffrey Salmon, then executive director of GMI, helped develop the American Petroleum Institute's strategy of stressing the uncertainty of climate science.

Exxon-Mobil was a funder of the GMI until it pulled funding from it and several similar organizations in 2008.

Yeah these guys seem legit.

I expected nothing less from retarded_tajmahal.

All you have to do is refute his science. You can't because it's correct, so attack the man instead.

It'll be pretty hard now for anyone to claim that cyclone activity has not increased," says Judith Curry, an atmospheric researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, who was not involved in the study.

Strongest storms matter most
Three years ago, Curry and her team calculated that category 4 and 5 storms have almost doubled in number and proportion since 19702. The study, published two weeks after Hurricane Katrina struck, was later criticized for using a mixture of data taken by various worldwide projects that used different protocols. The new analysis is instead based on a single set of wind-speed data inferred from infrared satellite imagery....

So just one question Taj. Who knows more about climate science, yourself or Dr. Judith Curry?

Dr. Curry, is that why you used over 10 year old data?

I chose her because I knew she had published actual scientific articles on the subject back before she decided to make money off the denial train. She’s also one of the what, 2-3 climate scientists you’ll listen to.

So who’s right Taj? Spencer or Curry? Or are they

  • Both right
  • Both wrong
  • A bit of each

As you well know before the 12 year hiatus of powerful hurricanes making landfall in the United States that Curry was right, after that hiatus Spencer is right.

Taj is an insincere shill. He can't be embarrassed because of that.

It’s one of those things where he knows he’s lying, we all know he’s lying, yet he pretends otherwise. I don’t know why he bothers - if he were smarter he would admit he was wrong sometimes to lend the rest of his shilling more credibility.

If there is one thing we know for sure. Tajbot is not smart enough to think that far ahead.

I prefer to think that taj is a devout believer that the good should govern our lives, that morality is core to his life, and that he is a fierce defender of what he has mistakenly come to believe is the truth. I think it’s a shame he makes that mistake, but I don’t think it itself is shameful because the motive is right but the assumptions he makes as to the good is were inculcated into him, his programming, was done via fear and threat.

I think I have sympathy for his condition because I believe I used to be the same and for reasons that I can’t understand or had to do with anything unique about me, I lost faith in. The suffering I went through because of that was very intense, to use words that carry no sense of it, but, to use more empty words, it opened the door to a better way of seeing.

It is that, not shame that I would like for every blinded being but the joy of freedom from it. No need to shame anybody, we all feel it already and unimaginably deeply.

What science? He hasn't presented any evidence what so ever.

Do you understand what science is? Do you understand how inductive reasoning has to be evidenced for it to be actual science?

You just don't give a shit, do you? I refuse to believe that you don't already know the basics of science since it's taught in middle school.
