To be fair, there are plenty of Southern women that don't get all sensitive and double-thinky about their weight as well, partaking in all forms of barbequing and frying along with their male counterparts. It's the disgusting Californian and Northeastern fatties that are the real problem.

People are definitely larger down here. I've recently dropped from obese to overweight, being 6'1" and 224 pounds. My doctor wants me at or below 180, and people are saying that I look like I'm at a healthy weight right now. It's ingrained in our society.

People who are at normal weights look sickly. 68.9% of people in my state are overweight or obese (http://kff.org/other/state-indicator/adult-overweightobesity-rate/).

I have been as much as 275 pounds. It's all about realizing what you need to do and doing it. I'm sure there are people who can't lose weight, but if everyone swaps over to a healthy diet, those people will stand out and be able to seek the help they need. I'd be curious to see what percentage of the population just "can't" get to a healthy body size.

Saying that a females most valuable asset is beauty reflects very poorly on your view of women.

Are you just woefully naive in regards to the kind of treatment that a pretty young woman gets in America? Anything she wants is hers, for free. For a female perspective on it, I'd recommend reading Norah Vincent's "Self-made man," wherein in she spends 18 months disguised as a man. By the end of her time as a man, she's suffering from severe depression due to the lack of attention she gets, and describes herself as "invisible and alone."

Squandering your peak attractiveness and value (in terms of climbing social ladders or attracting a long term mate) is the most damaging move a young woman in America can make. Because not only is she not going to attract a high quality mate, she's also not going to have much "fun" in the meantime.

Sweet Moses: http://thisisthinprivilege.tumblr.com/

Thin privilege is being able to buy confectionery and other sweet things at the supermarket and knowing that the cashier won’t take it from your bag when you’re not looking.

This has happened to me three times this year whenever I go to a certain supermarket in town and meet the same cashier. The last time it happened, I made sure I checked my bags before I left and then marched right back in, demanding why I’ve always been defrauded by her. And she gave me the most astonished look, and said that I shouldn’t be eating such things and that she’s ‘saving my life.’

Like, she didn’t think that what she was doing was theft or illegal in any way. In her mind, she was saving the fat girl from the dangers of a few bars of chocolate. And I’m completely sure that she does it to other fat people that shop there too. I’d stop going to that place but it’s the only local supermarket in town that sells the type of rice that I like eating.

It's the only local supermarket in town that sells the type of RICE that you like eating? Oh yeah, you mean the kind that's stuck together with melted marshmallow? They have that everywhere.

"Thin privlidge" LOL.

It's always so bizarre the many ways first-worlders can delude themselves that they are victims of the very excess they wallow in.

A world where millions genuinely starve because there's famine... and we have people that casually eat 4000+ calorie diets litterally killing themselves with calories, claiming to be victims of "privlidged" people who simply have more healthy diets and exercise.

Lets make fun of fat people! Nothing like it since we can't make fun of the gays or the retards anymore and it makes me feel good about myself.

You know you are seriously an ass hole Nebor and the rest of you fat bullies, why do you get enjoyment belittling and braiding folks because they are fat, it is childish and immature. Are you all that insecure?

The OP was making fun of fat people (sarcastically.) I'm just running with it.

You still seem to think that either gays & retards choose to be that way, or that fat people are born fat. Neither is true.

Bull shit to your DR. 6'1", 180lbs, with no muscle maybe. Screw that. 190 to 200 lbs with some muscle, imo. 6'1", 202lbs. My bro is the same height but 175lbs (reasons, he works like a dog), way too thin. 225lbs is a bit much with little muscle though. I've been a fat 240 at one point in my 50 years so I have some experience.

So does that mean every time a woman turns down a man for sex/date she is insulting the oppressed?
That has to be a parody. I know some people are extremely illogical, but that insanity takes illogical to a new level. I'm guessing it was really some dude making a joke of the silliness of "fat activists". Otherwise I can't imagine how much an imbalance of omega 6 it takes to get the fat content of a person's brain so out of whack that they could actually think like that. We're talking an INSANE amount of jelly donuts.

So those with Thyroid disease are at fault, gotcha.

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I'm 5'5 137 right now. At one point, I was 215, but I lost almost all of that weight before I knew I had (and got treated for) hypothyroidism. That said I do have some sympathy for fat people. For some people, it's much harder to maintain weight than others, but you have dipshits acting like it's a simply choice. When your body and/or mind is crushing you telling you to eat and barely eating anything makes you gain weight, it isn't remotely easy.

I also have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, it's difficult to control weight as your body destroys your thyroid, I've had swings from being hyperthyroid (toxic) to hypothyroid several times over the past few years. Nothing like gaining weight on a 1,500 calorie/day diet.

That's false, or at least a claim that is up for debate. There is evidence that people make a choice to be gay, and there is evidence that people are born fat too.

93% of women who call themselves lesbians have had sex with men. Was that not a choice?

How about babies being born overweight? According to the CDC, babies that are born over 8 pounds 10 ounces run a greater chance of growing up to be obese. And there has been research that shows people can get fat from genetic mutations.

Thanks.

She's thin :p

IIRC the military wanted me at 189 and apparently they aren't the only ones: http://www.rush.edu/rumc/page-1108048103230.html

I'd be happy at 200.

Okay, okay we get it. Americans dont eat too much. There's no problem with obesity. All the fat people: not their fault. They all have thyroid conditions. Or were born that way. Or big boned.

Or mutants.

Got it.
