That's why I shop @ Wild Oats. All natural food. It's amazing the taste difference and quality of foods you get there.

and even those cows have been genetically modified and don't anywhere near resemble their ancestors of 400 years ago

It's a cool idea, and it might eventually catch on, but not because of PETA.

There's no way it would be cheaper, unless they could just "set it and forget it" and come out with like a 10,000lb vat of hamburger.

If it is the same then I wouldn't have a problem eating it.

It would put a lot of people out of business though.

It's thinking like that, that keeps the cures for AIDS, cancer and other breakthroughs from occuring. Or inventions like a cheaper more efficient fuel source, or how to get man to mars and back.
God, i'm so sick of you conspiracy theorists.

Our government and planet may be pretty fscked up, but it's not that fscked up. It's pretty much still just a random ball of chaos, we aren't in control of everything.

I agree that it would take some pretty weird happenings for us to turn to lab-grown meat, I just can't imagine it being cheaper than the real stuff, but whatever.. there's no reason normal farmers couldn't co-exist with synthetic meat.

There's also no way in fsck that a cure for AIDS and Cancer is being held back because it would put people out of business. Are you really that pessimistic? Do you really believe that every every research scientist on every continent is apart of this worldwide conspiracy? Wake up.

If that is true, we'd have far more problems than AIDS.

No it wouldn't...
Yeah we're gonna have african countries that has a GDP of $10,000 a year go grow state of the art synthetic meat...

LOL, no it wouldn't. It would satisfy industrialized nations need for cheap meat and lots of it. We could feed everyone now if we really wanted too...but we don't. Why? Because homeless starving people don't have any money, and no one got rich running a fvcking soup kitchen! Thats why.

The one thing you "It'll solve world hunger!" people are forgetting is that you can't just grow some meat in a casserole dish.

One word: Energy.

It isn't free. I bet it would require more energy for us to grow a vat of meat than it does to grow 1 cow.

Wasn't there some news blurb a while ago about a meat-like substance that they got to grow on trees?

Anyway, I don't know if I'd try synthetic meat or not.

Probably. We call them nuts & seeds.

I'm in the process of buying a farm... my cattle will not be treated inhumanely... I plan to have plenty of excellent meat. I would not even bother to try artificial meat.

if it tasted the same and was better for me and cheaper, no reason to eat normal meat.

sorry to be off topic for a moment. Schadenfroh, thanks for the links in your signature, sygate is a really cool firewall that I wouldn't have found without that link. Thanks a lot.

Back on topic:

I'd eat it if it were healthier for me, if it tasted good, and if it was around the same price as regular meat.

If it tastes like chicken, and costs less, then I'll buy it instead of chicken. However, if its more expensive, or not as good, then forget about it, I don't want that crap.
