The new Wolfenstein is due this year

I've been waiting for this since I played through RTCW for the fourth time 😀
There's not much info around, I did find this article which claims a Core i7 @2.93 GHZ is recommended to play, hard to believe when the game is using a modified Doom 3 engine, but then again the article is an Intel tech showcase.
It is being developed by Raven so there's a good chance it will be a worthy successor in the series.

You can watch the intro here.

Fell free to contribute with hype or info 😉

Edit: Release date is August 4th

RTCW is one of my all time favorites. I have played it through at least 5 times over the years. I can only hope the new one is nearly as good.

Good introduction, time will tell if the game is just as good, I do hope it will, I liked RTCW. And, the best part of it all perhaps, is that it's being developed by Raven Software, and I really like those guys, and it's using id Tech 4. Additionally, but maybe not so originally, there is what is rumored (I think it's rumored, I read that in the comments under the video at the link provided by the OP) to be a parallel reality that the player can "access", called The Veil, and while in The Veil the player gets new abilities, can slow down time, find new ways to get around obstacles, and some more.

That "The Veil" concept reminds me of many other games in which you have the "regular" reality and an alternative one, it's something we've seen before, but the way it was described for that Wolfenstein in particular looks like a re-do of Prey's spiritual reality, but I liked the implementation in Prey, I'm just saying that it ain't something quite original so let's just hope that the execution of it is good enough, but I have confidence in Raven Software.

I can't wait. RTCW is probably my favorite SP game. I just hope it isn't a disappointment, and affects my view on the original.

wow, i cannot wait for this game. hopefully, like the many others said, its as good as the past two games.

It's going to be released for the PC as well 😕

Yeah but it is most likely going to be a console port complete with consolized menus and extremely low performance.

Like I said, it's being developed by Raven Software and that makes me hopeful and besides, we haven't seen any ID console ports yet so there's no reason to be so negative.

If this is true then no i dont care if this comes out i wont have that spec for at least another year. Also that would be a would be a nightmare for the studio. PC game makers are getting lazy, crappy ports. Is that all there is left for the pc 🙁

Hopefully its good with some nice multilayer isnt the last one free now? For online atleast?

I LOL'ed hard at that article. Recommended CPU is a Core i7 for a 360 port?
Also, I found the recommended CPU requirements for RTCW to be hilarious - I do not recall the game being even remotely playable with a Pentium 2.

Dang, this sounds pretty cool. I loved RTCW and played online quite a bit with friends at school. I'll have to see if I can even find my old copy anymore, it might be cool to give it a try again.

If its July, then you'd think we'd have way more info by now.

Anyway, i hope its true, cuz im getting bored of my Fallout 3 mods/add ons.
I need something new to play.
