Anyway... Does anyone know how to play The Patient? I know its on the last album, but I love that song. And the riff at the beginning is so sweet the way it rolls out as you play it... then I hum to the other part at the beginning... oh and the drum work...oh oh oh!! so good!

I already posted but it deserves another mention. This album is absolutely fscking amazing! I'd even be so bold as to say it's their best, despite their other albums & EP all being masterpieces. I can't wait to have it in flac.

I agree with you: Lateralus was the pinnacle. It was Extremely detailed and artistic. As an overall album, it was as if it was divisions of songs within one overall song. It covered a lot of very different subjects that you dont usually here in mainstream music. It is just such a unique and beautiful album - Perfect balance of full music structure with abstract noise tracks fx.

Songs that seemed to be amazingly constructed: The Grudge, The Patient, Schism, Parabol, Parabola, Ticks & Leeches, Lateralus, Disposition, and Reflection. These songs have such variety among their parts, so multi-faceted, and very fun to explore for new things as you listen. It's an album that you know took years of effort and hard work, and it deserves to be listened to carefully and studied over time.

I personally think that they should keep their sound like in Lateralus.

As far as sound goes, Tool not changing their sound would scare me more than anything. Every album is distinctly different. Opiate (the track) is one of my top tool songs. Not because its an amazing track, it is, but just listening to it, you can tell that at point they just had to make it big. A little foreshadowing into their future.
