Some delicious riffs intermixed in between some really droned out passages and absolutely 0 maynard 'belted out' lyrics :(

Seems like a good relax album, def not the heavy record I wanted. There are moments where it's insanely heavy but other than that... :\

The heavy is what I wanted, too. :(

Seeing Tool live for their Lateralus tour was one of the greatest things I've ever done. Assuredly holding a ranking in my top 3 concerts experiences, second only to Phish.

I saw that one too. I really hate ticketmaster though, and I know I have no chance of getting in on this

How was it? I always hear things about it like it was so insane and artistic and stuff...ive seen pictures, and they imply something very unique.

I saw them 4 times on the Lateralus tour and felt like each one was as unique and amazing as the last. A truly must-see live performance. I've seen some pretty big acts and they rival even my favorite concert experiences.

It certainly is growing on me.. still not what I was hoping for but I really love certain passages so far. Rosetta Stoned is my favorite piece so far with Jambi, The Pot, and Right In Two not far behind.

so far Rosetta Stoned is my favorite. It took me 3 listens to really get into lateralus, so I expect the same here.

btw - vigniti tres could have been shortened by like 3 minutes....

Damn. I hope it's really not as disappointing as some have said. I was pumped for release after Vicarious. Downloading now.

Urghhh, why did I have to see this thread before going to bed. Now I'm gonna stay up and listen, who knows how long that will take.

edit: I'm going through my second listen now. Right now, I'm kinda split. I love the sound of the new songs but I still feel like there is something missing. The vocals seemed somewhat... toned down? Not as strong. The songs also don't have as much of the heavy/hard feeling I liked from previous work. Oh well, I'm still getting used to it. My opinion will probably change after a couple listens. Oh, and I might or might not have pm'ed a couple people ;) .

Same here. It's 2am, and I have a final in the morning, but I'm staying up anyway :)

It doesnt seem to have quite the perfection lateralus did though. Its almost like maynard's singing is stuck in APC style voice.

I noticed that on vicarious, he's singing APC style, but the song is still Tool. Either way I dont care, I like APC as well.
