I'm looking forward to this. It's something the show has never done before, so it opens up a lot of new options for story telling. Which doesn't guarantee it will be good (or bad), only that it's exciting to see what becomes of it. (Especially coming off of Moffat's run; good riddance)

It has got a huge amount of potential.
Maybe it was part of the reason why Star Trek Voyager (New Women Lead, Captain Janeway), was a success for many people.

In some respects, it is the start of a new era for the Doctor Who TV show.

I really enjoyed it when Doctor Who first started having non-human Doctor Who companions (I.e. K9), which I really enjoyed. I would still like to have my own K9 "pet". Which, the way technology is moving, will probably be a reality, in the next 0..100+ years.
If I get desperate, I will have to do something like "Alexa, from now on you will respond to the name 'K9', ok ?"

It is going to be a Man Women.

Since the 'King' of England is a Woman (Queen).
The UK Prime Minister is again a Women (Theresa May).

So I guess it is fair enough that 'Doctor Who' is now going to be a women, for the first time.

What's crazy is that Queen Elizabeth has been "King" for the entire run of Doctor Who, since it started in 1963 and she became queen in 1952. She's got more lives than a dozen time lords, apparently!

Sorry your fee-fees got hurt by the girl doctor, old man.
I wonder if people cried as much about the Master being portrayed by a woman in seasons with Peter Capaldi. Oh no, the time traveling aliens with multiple lives don't conform with human biological sex standards! That's the last straw. LOL
