Hopefully they devote more funds to hire a decent script writer this go around and worry less about special effects. They reached way beyond the diminishing returns point of spending on FX in the 2nd and especially 3rd movie. If the plot sucks donkey balls the effects don't matter much anyway.

Isn't Neo like the 6th iteration of "the one"? If they're sticking with that premise, I don't care much for the 5 prequels that precedes it.

People don't complain about everything, they simply shouldn't have made the 2nd and 3rd movies. They were awful compared to the first one, didn't add anything but stupid CGI sequences.

It is absolutely nuts to think if this comes out in 2017 it's nearly 20 years since the original came out. I'm too young to remember seeing an original in theaters as if it was yesterday and then 20 years later see a prequel in theaters. That's messed up.

While the execution wasn't up to par there were some interesting ideas in the movie especially the reference to the myth about the 7th son of a 7th son.

Which was done in the dialogue before and after Neo's fight with the Merovingian's goons then later when the Architect revealed just how many iterations of the Matrix have been created then recreated.

That's when I new Neo wasn't going to live... they weren't on the 7th version yet.

as bad as the rave scene is, did you guys also happen to forget the ~15 minute long pointless fight between Bill and the 8000 cartoon Elrons, with bo staffs and walls and more cartoons?

Matrix 2 was one of the worst movies ever made.

Matrix 1 also has the dubious distinction of the "Jaws effect"--do somethign so well, that everyone else wants to copy you. With Jaws, it was "summer blockbuster"

With Matrix, it was dumb-shit "bullet time" or whatever they called it. Awesome in the Matrix, mind you, but godawful anywhere else.

I wonder if they've waited long enough to 'target a new generation'... after they burnt the previous one.

'The Second Renaissance' was more than adequate as a prequel.

They're going to have to try quite hard to market this one, the critics are going to want to hate it.

2 alone isn't great. 3 alone isn't great.

Watching 2 and 3 back to back is great.

That's the whole problem.

I thought Reloaded was good until I saw Revolutions. I liked how philosophical Reloaded got but then they basically said "never mind" with Revolutions and so it undercut Reloaded's impact. I think if Revolutions had been a good conclusion, people would have thought the entire trilogy was great. Basically, Revolutions was so bad it also ruined Reloaded.

I bought an entire new entertainment system, including a DVD player, just to watch the Matrix over and over again when it was released on DVD. Was awesome! I'm sure my old neighbors still hate me. I had that shit so loud.

Number 2 was whatever and not needed.

Number 3 sucked.

I honestly have no interest in another trilogy. The first one was so fucking mind blowing awesome when it came out that we went and saw it in the theater 2 days in a row but seriously that was 1999. This bullshit is a money grab and they can suck it.

They need to retcon all of the Zion parts and come up with something else. A dance party a thousand miles underground while the machines are digging down to slaughter everyone in a bloodbath? No thanks.

If the Matrix was stand alone I think it would be considered one of the greatest sci movies ever. Instead they ruined it with the sequels. Mystery is a good thing, we don't need every detail of a universe spelled out. I watched Blade Runner last night and its great, thank god they didn't ruin it with a sequel.

Are you referring to the big-budget fanfiction movies called "Matrix Revolutions" and "Matrix Reloaded"?
