I understand he must be tinkering with the timing or something, but seriously, what could he be doing that would take this long? He's 4 houses down and I can hear & feel it while inside my house. Scaring the crap out of my dog.

Do you think he even knows/cares how obnoxious it is?

I'm giving him 10 minutes before I walk down and politely ask him to knock it off. Its a modified mustang that I think he uses to race at the local dragstrip.

Video of you telling him to knock if off? :D

Reason #345123257 why I don't want neighbors. I like noisy things.

Hey lets make a post about it rather then walking over and finding out whats up...

Walk down there now, ask hows it going and what he is doing after he explains or says something tell him that you can hear his car many houses down and its loud enough to scare my dog to try to limit what he is doing.

Its not hard

You have a neighbor with a potentially kick-ass car. You're in a car forum. You must like cars. Why not go down there and check his car out?

A few years ago I foolishly decided to break in a cam at 9:30PM. I lived in pretty close quarters with my neighbors and the car was LOUD. I had a new exhaust that I thought would be quiet but it wasn't. Neighbor lady came outside and asked me to shut it down since her 1-yr old was trying to sleep. Doh! I felt terrible but I had to keep going less the cam not get cycled properly. One neighbor about three houses down said she didn't want to come outside because she thought a helicopter was landing??? I ended making cookies for the whole neighborhood and asking forgiveness with my tail between my legs.

That was only about 30 minutes. 4.5hrs sounds like a long time to be making that much noise.

geeze, keep it down exdeath!

Uhm no I don't do that. I roll through the neighborhood in 2nd/3rd gear at 10 mph after dark.

I know my car is way too loud and respect it accordingly. There are times where I want to or need to get on it but I don't just because of the noise. Underpasses, valleys of concrete, etc. It's deafening just for me inside the car.

If I need to open it up for any reason, there is about a 5 mile loop around here I run with straight roads 65+ mph and nothing but desert on both sides well away from the populated areas. I do what I need to do and it takes at most two trips of "diagnostic driving". It doesn't take me 4 hours of revving to find and fix a problem. ;)

I feel your pain OP, we had a neighbor (thank GOD he moved) who for hours on end tinker with the carb on his Harley with straight pipes, I'm all for fixing cars, bikes whatever but this guy knew he was annoying the entire neighborhood but just didn't give a fuck..

if he had a new motor built, it could be his intital startup and it requires i forget how long to run before shutting it off.

20-30 minutes if it's a flat-tappet cam. No break-in for a roller.
