The most transparent Administration in HISTORY...

has set a record for withholding the most FOIA requests in HISTORY!

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration set a record again for censoring government files or outright denying access to them last year under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, according to a new analysis of federal data by The Associated Press.

The government took longer to turn over files when it provided any, said more regularly that it couldn’t find documents and refused a record number of times to turn over files quickly that might be especially newsworthy.

It also acknowledged in nearly 1 in 3 cases that its initial decisions to withhold or censor records were improper under the law — but only when it was challenged.

Its backlog of unanswered requests at year’s end grew remarkably by 55 percent to more than 200,000. It also cut by 375, or about 9 percent, the number of full-time employees across government paid to look for records. That was the fewest number of employees working on the issue in five years.

Someone please tell me...is it more important what these people say, or what they do?

This is completely without context. What are the nature of the requests? What is the volume compared to previous administrations? Looking at numbers alone is meaningless.

Didn't they start the electronic FOIA request form recently? Maybe that has something to do with more requests.

Another broken promise...I don't know how liberals stand the stench while managing to keep a smile on their face.

And it's probably republicans making all the requests for their "witch-hunts".

Of course its the republicans' fault! There is no way that Obama and his administration could possibly be at fault.

I will never cease to be amazed by liberal "logic".

Old story. Obama admin has been quite awful on press relations and freedom, this is well known among liberals and derided by libs, progs, Dems, etc. quite consistently. Notice how this report was performed by the mainstream "LIBERAL!" media.

And I'm sure you're just overjoyed that Hillary will likely get the nomination as well. Libertarian is always an option...at least for me. Your choices appear to be a tad more limited....lol.

Nope, not happy that Hillary is a likely shoe-in, but given any of the repubs possible nominees, Ill hold my nose and vote for Hillary.

A pretty obvious choice too, given the horrid alternatives currently available in the Repub and 3rd party wings. I mean really, how much more often can Repub/conservative ideas fail before you accept that your voodoo economics philosophy is bunk.

There are many that share your opinion. Makes one wonder how Democrats are going to energize their base.

All they have to do is tell them to look at the alternative...😉

IF the Republicans could field someone worth voting for, I'd vote for them, I have already done so in local/state elections in the past. The last Republican I would've voted for as president, I couldn't because I wasn't voting age.

I has me concerned, as I will only vote for her due to the Repubs policies being completely untenable. It's too early for Warren. A lot of problems with the Obama admin is lack of experience in dealing with congress critters.

I'd say the biggest problem with the Obama admin is Obama.

Obama used the least Executive Order in history: That don't mean SHIT! Ya'll need to know what was ordered exactly!! We need context!! You need to take into account the nature of the Executive Orders!!

Obama censored government files or outright denying access: No context required for the requests made to access these files!! We don't need to take into account the nature of the requests!!

I'd be inclined to believe Obama isn't very transparent, but as others pointed out it needs more context. How many FOIA requests do they have compared to Bush? Are the FOIA requests legit or designed for political muckraking?

If only there were some context in the article or the OP....

Hrrmmmm......

That's exactly what it is. 20 years from now you will still have millions of people thinking the obama admin was the greatest thing since sliced bread. The facts dont seem to matter because... they dont.

I liked "candidate" Obama a hell of a lot more than President Obama. The problem is that the Republican election freakshow produces such shitty candidates that they're unelectable and this is what we're stuck with.

Yet when challenged; 33% of the denials were then granted.

Seems like the policy is deny first if it could be embarrassing and then considered consequences when challenged if could be legit.

when requests from the New York Post are routinely getting shunted aside until challenged ...
