...that is if the wife doesn't oppose. I purchased it for her initially, but she never has any interest in using it either.
I let my feelings of "hey maybe my wife will finally play games with me" also cloud my vision. It didn't change her mind on video games at all.

What games did you try to play with her? My GF loves wario ware, she totally hogs the controller.

While I find EGM to be mostly biased (towards MS/Halo...because Halo 3 totally deserved that 10/10...right), I'd have to agree with them. The Wii seems pretty boring.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Pretty much any review or preview suck and shouldn't be trusted. The only way to know if a game is good is to play it. Watching videos and looking at pictures can't tell you if it'll be fun especially if the game isn't finished and released.
B. Wii Fit and M&S😱 really can't be anything other than mini games. SSBB looks like SSBM with more stuff. I don't really get the pet store analogy.
III. You obviously don't like the Wii in the first place, so just sell it and be done with it.
Four. I'd say 70% of the people on here seem to dislike the Wii, will agree with you and tell you to sell it.

ps. I'm still enjoying my Wii.

My Wii still gets used pretty much everyday. I enjoyed Zelda, Super Paper Mario, and Metroid. Wii Sports is a blast at first, but grows old pretty quick in my opinion. Its still fun though as multiplayer/party game.

Currently waiting on Galaxy and Brawl. I wouldn't sell my Wii. Even though their hasn't been a lot of "must haves" on the system, the 1st party Nintendo games are almost always top notch and worth the price of the Wii.

I like the controls so far using the Wii Remote, but sometimes I wish that there was a option to use a Classic or Gamecube controller. I'm glad that Brawl is going to have this option.

I think it's just that wii hasn't really had much games that fully take advantage of its sensor ability. Most of the games pushed out are just small flicks and thats it. Light gun seems interesting. Maybe you just got bored of the idea of having to swing a control around to play a game. Everyone has a different opinion. Don't take this as me sticking up for the Wii or a Nintendo fanboy. I own a Xbox =P

I love it when people argue about personal opinion.

Pick up a Dictionary, look up "Opinion."

I love it even more when people have absolutely nothing to add but smug bullshit.

Reads like flamebait, but I almost took it seriously until I read your Metroid comment.

PS. EGM doesn't know shit.

meh I'm just stating what I was talkin about last night to friends.

if you were a south paw you would understand the problems of playin a game like metroid prime for me.

i;m a south paw and love metroid and plays very very easiy for me. maybe your doing something wrong.

What games are you playing on it daily ? I noticed the games you listed as "enjoyed" as in, you dont play them anymore.

Not trying to flame, just curious.

i dont see the appeal in the wii so i never bothered to pick it up. it gets on my nerves tho when ppl say the wii is for fun over graphics and the ps3/360 is for graphics over fun. like i cant have fun playing warhawk 😕

Precision/control issues aside, there is a certain intangible funness to playing COD3 with a wiimote. Something about waving your hand left and right to spray shots into a room, or having to keep your hand so still to make those long range rifle shots, and squeezing that trigger to pop off shots just feels so, so right. The stupid wrestling minigames I could do without, and the graphics are horrendous, so without quantifying which is "more fun", there are definitely certain "types of fun" that you just can't get on the other systems.

Wow, that actually sounds really fun. I wish they made a light gun accessory, and a shooter style game that supported it on the Wii, that would be awesome.

They're going to release a shell for the wiimote/nunchuck to be used as a gun and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and a couple of other shooters are being released.

Medal of honor heroes 2 will use it quite well. I'm curious as to try it with the analog stick on the back and all, part of me thinks itll be a bit cumbersome, but popping off shots with it either way will be most excellent. That zapper is basically a thompson. 🙂

Now they have to work on the thing actually shooting where you point it. 😛

Its really the long range rifle shots that really sell it. At first I had a lot of trouble with it, shooting at someone 100 years away, while pulling the trigger I'd jerk the controller just enough for a miss. It pissed me off until I realized that was the entire point...thats the hard part about aiming a real gun. You'd never have that problem with a mouse, and dual analogs at least stay in place, but I'll be damned if the Wiimote isnt the most fun to play.

If nothing else Smash Bros Brawl ensures my wii will never be sold =). I'm looking forward to some other games soon as well like Super Mario Galaxy.

My wii gets a couple of gameplay hours a week ... my wife likes WiiSports, and the VC Mario games I've downloaded. I don't own any other console (well, I do have a PS1) and I usually game more on my PC. However, it is great for a party, and for having over the occasional golf friend to play Tiger Woods in the dead of Winter will be sweet 🙂

SSB ensures a lot of Wii's will be kept for a long time.

TIME SPLITTER :9

Game reviews before the game is released and awards afterwards are two of the worst ways to judge how much fun you will have playing the game.

I have a blast with my Wii, of course I have a wife, kids, and friends who come over, and we pointedly use it as a social centerpiece, Wii Sports is still used quite a bit, and I picked up Mario Strikers not too long ago, which is a blast.

I can understand why hardcore gaming "purists" would get bored with it pretty quick, but it's a great way to spend a Saturday evening with friends, a few beers, and some steaks on the grill. People who come over get a huge kick out of and end up buying one for themselves for when we go over to their place to hang out.

I guess it'll get old at some point, everything does, but it's a cheap, reliable source of entertainment for now, and it's a good way to socialize.

I bought a Wii at release, sold it 3 days later and bought a 360. Just think the "motion sensing" is a novelty, it wore off quickly.

I just bought a Wii about three weeks ago and so far i've only played zelda and wii sports. I too sometimes question whether my $250 purchase was worth it but i gotta say twilight princess has been pretty awesome. I'm looking forward for more hardcore sports games that make good use of the wiimote to come out.

Only game on the Wii worth buying right now is Metroid Prime 3, and arguably Resident Evil 4 only if you haven't played the game before. However, I would buy one (and did) simply for SSBB. If you don't care for Smash Bros., then jump to another system 😉
