I just evolved to more "mature" MMO's. Been playing EVE for almost a year now off and on. If work or life throws me a rough spot, I can drop the game entirely for a month or two and still make constant character progress when during the time I was away for when I return. Gone are the days of scheduled raids 3-5 nights a week, where others relied on you to be there and commit to a second non-paying job in a video game. In EVE, I progress as fast, or slow as I feel like it. I have zero pressure, and if I really want to I can spend half my day at work watching the market and making money purely by toying with buy/sell orders. Then go home, run missions with the girlfriend, or pewpew in a 0.0 roaming gang.
The beautiful thing is, if I just don't feel like it, nobody is going to cry to me for not attending their roam. I was a MT for a top 10 US Horde WoW guild for almost 3 years - missing a single day would have gotten me SO much shit it's unbelievable. Simply amazing pressure.
With EVE? Zero. I do what I want, when I want, and how I want. And I can still make a name for myself doing it.
