Well, that Christmas classic - Don't Look Up! ;)
Tough to rate. It almost comes off, to me, as a satirical documentary on current US politics, science and corporate influence. Using a deadly comet as a common thread (ELE).

I watched the first half hour hoping it would get better but had to stop, could not bear any more of that train wreck.

Oof! That bad?!

No. People on here just like to be dramatic.

IDK.... From what I was able to handle watching it was pretty terrible with no substance whatsoever.

Have I seen worse? Of course. (but not MUCH worse)

This steaming pile makes "Revolutions" look Oscar-worthy.... I agree with TheVrolok re the "trolling" comment, this movie feels like it was supposed to be a bad inside-joke.

I had high expectations and was very disappointed.

It was basically an explainer for the matrix turned into a movie. Half the movie was scenes from the other movies and lines and even fighting sequences were straight copies from the previous movies. The agent smith actor seemed like he was trying to impersonate a terminator as he has very little emotion compared to the original smith.

This movie looked like Disney got a hold of it imo.

LOL @ all the "half the scenes were from the original" people. There is probably like 3-5 minutes total of old footage. And the movie is not 10 minutes long.

This goes back to my dramatic comment.

Finished watching it last night. It was ok. I had to divide the movie to 2 nights since I almost fell asleep watching the 1st night. It's a movie that didn't need to be made. It's also fitting I didn't pay to see it. Not that I would've paid to see it. I think my opinion of the movie is higher since I didn't pay.

This was the worst movie I have watched in 20 years. I have to believe that the weird commentary at the start was literally the actors saying they didn't want to make it, but had to because of contracts. Thoroughly uninspiring performances throughout. Even the action sequences were horrible-not even close to any of the previous movies. And did they really think making a character that-as a power-would literally ridicule the slow motion effects from the first movies was necessary?

Well, at least I have 'the suicide squad' again on HBO.

You can downplay it all you want, but old footage and video clips weren't the only references that were used. Most of the story revolves around it as well. This wasn't a "new chapter", this was,
"oh guess what? The machines still won, and this is how"

I'm guessing that post was meant for the Christmas movie thread & not this one?

Never said it didn't reference the old movie. I never said this was a "new chapter" not sure wtf that has to do with anything. The whole movie's premise is basically about the original one.

I was just commenting on people claiming that half the movie is clips from the old movie.

So you were commenting on the remark that only YOU made?
Nobody else made that claim, so while you say that, "everyone is just too dramatic", that's exactly the route you took.

Look 2 posts above my initial one about half the scenes being from old movies...

I'm not "disappointed" by this movie BUT that's only because I had zero expectations of anything good coming from this lame a$$ money-grab excuse for a "sequel". (the only real bummer is it made me think less of Keanu Reeves)

As of now I'm officially "on strike" and will no longer hand one penny of my hard-earned money over to people who regurgitate garbage like this.

Fvck remakes, reboots, sequels and all non-original plot ideas in movies.

He was one of the few things I actually liked about the movie. He was awesome in Mindhunter. NPH is also good in most things I've seen him in. I just don't know what to make of this movie as a whole. I agree with the sentiment that the entire thing felt like a troll. Having Trinity pilot the bike with Neo riding bitch has to be the worst part of the flick for me. Just an overall bad script. Liked the first half, parts of the middle, but by the end it just went off the rails.

I personally liked the first half as well. I enjoyed the meta commentary on being forced to make another Matrix, but they did drift a bit too far in that direction. When the movie really kicked off it confused me. Not in the "I'm slow in the brain" way, even though that's also true, but in the '"how does that work" kind of way.

I didn't get how Trinity became another chosen one that can break the rules/hack the universe. Was there some kind of transference that happened they explained that I missed? I can see a few ways to make it work I guess if I create my own story in my head, but wasn't sure if they explained anything that I missed. I'm also trying to wrap my head around how she and Neo generated even more power.. which doesn't make sense to me.

Also why is Smith even around? I got they were trying to say that he and Neo were linked, but I'm scratching my head on how. Smith was a virus, not something I'd want around. also I thought they said Neo's power only worked because of Trinity.. which beyond being completely stupid as he was able to be uber guy after she died in the last movie.. but I still don't get how Smith even fits in that.. besides being part of a movie callback.

I might be picking too much at a movie that doesn't deserve it.. but the first one was so well done and thought out, this feels like they gave up and made a bad popcorn movie. I wanted to like this movie, like I tried to convince myself that it wasn't as bad as it was. The more I move away from it, the more I accept this is yet another bad cashing in of a great IP.
