I drove one of those recently.
That and a BMW 745Li.
The conclusion?
BMW makes the best cars in the world.
I just noticed that NFS4 has been here 1 year longer and has 34 times as many posts as I do.![]()

They're the only ones worthy of the title 'the ultimate driving machine.'
I've had my 735i for about a year now, and am looking to get a 97 m3. I tried out some other cars (audi a4 in particular), but they felt lacking in every respect.
So a BMW is worthy to be called "the ultimate driving machine", while a McLaren F1 or Ferrari is not?
Personally, I am not impressed with BMW's. I have driven them, and I have driven better cars.

1. The Boxster is horrible. It is one of the worst cars ever made, and it's a disgrace to Porsche.
2. The M3 doesn't necessarily have an automatic.

how do you define automatic? SMG has the same 6 speed getrag manual transmission but clutch work is done by a hydraulic system. you CAN have the computer shift for you but it doesn't have a torque convertor like a conventional automatic. would you consider the ferrari F360 an auto also?

Yeah, BMW is going downhill in terms of looks
so once I finally get a decent job, the only way i'd be able to get a decent BMW is if I purchased a used one (eww)![]()
How so? The BMW M3 is one of the best looking cars they have produced. And the 745 is also (at least in my opinion).
Don't judge the 745 until you see it in person / have an opportunity to mess around with one.

so SMG is truly clutchless manual and not pussified "manual"?
