That's what I did after the first spoiler.

It's actually my GF's phone - I'm keeping her in the dark so she can be surprised tonight LOL. I've already given up - between ATOT and Drudge I already know everything that's going to happen tonight =X

You could always get hammered on listerine to the point that you have no idea of your surroundings; then all the events will seem new. But that's just stupid. Why would you even want to do that?

I'm Olympic ignorant, so forgive me if I don't understand...

But how everyone celebrating Michael Phelps being the most decorated Olympian ever (or is about to be) such a big deal? There are like 20 different swimming events. I understand that there are different types of swimming strokes...but it's not like Kobe Bryant gets to compete in dunk/free throw/3 point shooting contests and a zillion other basketball events.

19 so far over 4 years is a pretty big deal, even if they are all swimming. Of course not as impressive as say getting them from marathon, swimming soccer and fencing combined, but it is still impressive nonetheless.

I agree. What would be more impressive is if the athlete competed in totally unrelated events like archery and table tennis and won medals. that's a true olympian.

simply put, no one else has been able to match it, whether that was because of scheduling or personal performance.

I agree, I don't really care about swimming for that reason. They make an event out of every combination of swimming strokes, then do it again for the women, then do it again as a relay.
