The like/disagree is too open to abuse.

It could be useful to keep "like" or "helpful" votes and do away with the rest, get rid of the bar but keep the positive reactions count. That serves as a simple way that you can show appreciation to someone who went the extra mile with their post.

I wouldn't mind a "thank you" button to show thanks or a "helpful" button to encourage someone else who helps but "likes" can be used to show your on one team or another. We've seen enough division in the last several years and the last thing we want to see is more division when we log onto a tech forum.

I imagine they will retain some of the "positive" type reactions just like we had before the major forum overhaul. I don't ever recall there being an issue when people "liked" something. It was the appearance of the "negative" reactions that caused all the drama / pettiness / headaches around here. 😱

Yep - that's the way it used to be. The old "like" button was just an easy way to say "ditto."

Not really. There were members who abused the "like" as well.

Yeah, if you 'agree' it's clear what that means. Disagreeing without saying why or giving an alternative argument conveys nothing useful.
Also I notice some threads get diverted into arguing about the stupid voting system rather than the topic.

I see someone did some clean up in the Hume thread. I'm missing a few dozen Dislikes all of a sudden.

Dislikes don't bother me, but thanks all the same mods. I hope youknowwho is having a better day.
