Interesting that campaign finance reform hasn't been mentioned once in the first 2 debates and I fully expect it to be skipped tonight. Damn, damn shame. Clean up your act Washington! Too bad most americans don't give a rat's tail. :(

If Bush is elected pres this is how the peace negotiations between Barak and Arafat would go:

Bush: "Now Mr. Arafat, I'm here to be the "peace maker mediator, moderator" guy.
Arafat: "Hey Barak, do you know wtf he just said?"
Barak: "Not a clue..."
Bush: "<chuckle & Grinch grin> Hey look you two "enemies-at-war, foe fellas", you just agreed on something. Now isn't that great. I'm really special, aren't I?"

Good grief, Bush is dreadful tonight. Must be having his period. I cannot imagine sending that aging boy to the Middle East to negotiate with Barak and Arafat. Tonight Bush looks worse than Quayle. He may be worse than Chester A. Arthur. God help the American people if that buffoon gets elected. He's MORE than 2 standard deviations dumber than Gore. I'd guess about 5.

Phew. Does he know anything about anything? He keeps moving around like he's looking for his coke fix. Maybe Gore can score him a few lines, of coke that is. Not even Gore could score real lines for Bush.

Peeeeuuuuuu. What a stink. This is just awful.

<< making millions and billions >>

Nobody makes billions. Choose your words more carefully.
As for helping out the fellow man...if you like redistribution of wealth, go ahead. If you don't want to keep the money that you earned from your hard work, so be it, but let me keep what I earned for myself.

<< That's f*&kin chump change to them. >>

Now we get into the ever continuing debate of what is a "fair" amount to keep. Nobody needs 2 million a year...so knock it down to a million. But nobody needs a million a year...so lets knock that down to half a million. Hell, let's knock it down 100000, there's no point in having more income than that, right? Oh wait, now you've removed incentive for people to work harder and excel. Oops. Never mind that in the past, lower tax rates have caused government revenue to rise.

But enough about this. Back to the debate.

That's because in the polls, campaign finance reform is down about 22nd on the importance scale.

chess9... devoid of debateable material and all you Liberals can do is call names...LOL!

Bush just said we are the best farmers in the world. He couldn't be more wrong. I think in Israel, the actually produce more with less. The US has alot of land to farm on and we don't use the land as effiecently as they do over in Isreal. They can grow crops in the worst conditions. IF the US used the land as well as they did over there then our output would be astronomical.

Bush lost this debate from the gate. He doesn't know squat what to say without his puppeteer putting words in his mouth for him and using sound bites. This is sad(and hilarious!):D

If I take home 10 million a year, I wouldn't mind donation half of it to needy groups directly. I however do not support handing it over to the federal government where most of it is wasted and hardly is spent on those who really need it.

Bush is doing "fuzzy math" on the estate tax issue. He says everybody gets that taxed nuked. What he forgets to mention is that in year 1, only the most wealthy estates get the benefit and it takes ten freakin' years before the "little" guy is even considered.

If you earned 10 million a year, you wouldn't want anyone taking any of it without your say as to where it goes.

Tripleshot,

I totally disagree. Bush is simply not performing that badly. Amazing how two people can see the same event and have totally opposite views! :)

JellyBaby That's because and out and out repeal of the Death Tax would not make it through the Congress. The Democrats and Republicans reached an agreement here...only to be vetoed by Clinton.

I can only imagine what President Bush is saying to himself about his son's performance. It's like going to a high school play and having your kid come out and forget his lines. He must be very embarrrassed. Frankly, I feel sorry for him and his wife, having to watch this shell of a human being fall apart in front of the American public. It's really very sad that this is all the Republican Party could give us.

If I made $10 million, hell take $250k - $500k from me. WTF am I gonna do with $10 million dollars a year? I'd have a nice $500k home and maybe a Porsche. The wife and kids would be taken care of so what else do I need?

The reason why the presidential candidates are addressing the young is because they don't vote. Old folks do. Vote and maybe Gore will kiss your a$$ for a while. Government provide Pentium 4 machine with a Geforce 2 Ultra for every college student. If Gore promised me that, then maybe I would vote for him.

My dad only makes about $35,000 and lives in Chicago. He is a simple guy and saves what he can. When he retires, he will live a comfortable life because he invested his money well and he never complained about how high taxes are. If he could live off of that little amount of money then I think the rich could be paying up to 50% of their income to the gov't. I think my dad might of made a million dollars in his life and he does everything he wants to do like take vacations and sent two boys through college.

It all depends on the individual. Small business folk who earn a larger amount of money often become...tada...medium sized businesses through expansion! As a medium sized business it can afford to employ more people and provide them decent wages and benefits. Eventually, if the business is allowed to keep its money it may become and large business and do even more to support its community. There's also a distinction between business tax rates and individual tax rates here.

If everyone had earning restrictions and we all relied on government to provide for us, why get up in the morning? The Star Trek "utopia" standard of living is fiction. It cannot be realized here on earth. Capitalism is the next best thing and frankly I'd prefer that over government socialism any day.

Of course, reality is somewhere in between and we compromise in the best interests of both sides. In my view, the socialist side is getting too big now and it's time for an "adjustment". :)
