It's a good story but won't say anything or it will get spoiled. Washed out? What kind of tv are you using?

Never saw anything look washed out. Check your gammas. Some enemeis do drop stuff if I remember.

Infamous looks gorgeous, as did Destiny. I think it's the colors used in this game that are weird (playing on a 40" Samsung LED HDTV).

And yes, no spoilers please 😛

EDIT: By weird I mean the game looks a bit like a comic?

That's odd I didn't notice any different colors. I think it's just the views of an apocalyptic setting that gives it that feeling.

So I'm playing it now and... why don't killed enemies drop their guns or at least ammo for them? Also, the colors are a bit weird, like washed out?

The game's kinda slow too, but the beginning was rather strong. I wonder what the game will be about (just met Ellie), I think I will like it 🙂

The reason enemies don't drop the guns they are using is because in a lot of games like this, it would make it extremely easy to avoid the "starved for equipment" scenarios. If you kill a few baddies with AK-47s in a gun fight, logically, you think "now I have, at least, one working AK-47 and some ammunition", but in a game where conserving equipment is part of it, this doesn't really lend to making things difficult.

Hmm I'm not sure how it looks like a comic the facial textures and building textures for the ps4 are pretty well done compared to the ps3.

I thought you meant it just looks old as in the environments and it's suppose to be like that.

I guess it must be the game's art style, doesn't try to be realistic. Anyway, following the story some more 🙂

The game has a filter applied. I don't know what type of filter specifically but there is a definite tint and slight film grain.

Is there anything in options of the display setting in the game ? I know I run my games under a typical setting with customized options under hdmi 1 and I didn't notice any tint. I'll take a look more tonite.

Not that I remember. I'm sure I remember reading that leading up to release on PS3. Unable to find it.

The graphics in TLOU on PS3 are the best on any console game from that generation without question. You're way wrong about dated graphics. Don't give me your 1080p jargon or compare to PC...this is a console game. It's not supposed to be Crysis 3.

Whoa, calm down there buddy. All I meant is that the last generation is really showing its age. I'm too used to 1080p+ and 60FPS that sitting down to play a 720p game with ton of jaggies, low res textures, poor shadows, simple effects, and a low frame rate was a bit jarring.

That is why I was saying it will definitely benefit from a PS4 release, as there are a lot of simple things that could be cleaned up and look better.

Just to stop the texture pop-in when looking at something close up would be good enough for a PS4 version. The game looked great, but to often I would be staring at Joe or Ellie who were inches from the camera and see their shirts or hair pop in with the higher res texture.

They now use character models in game play that are the same as from the PS3 cut scenes. I can't really remember what you describe on PS3 but the models look great on PS4.

Yea character models are really improved. Also, close up of items are now sharp and smooth. You can read all the signs without pop up in or getting super close, it's nice.

It looks like they could really benefit from some Tesselation in that close-up shot. Everything looks good, and then you see the ear and the neck, which while they should normally be quite rounded, they are rather blocky. Although, they probably didn't have the GPU budget for that.

yea the GPU in the PS4 isnt THAT powerful

as for the color thing, there is nothing odd with it, its all done for artistic reasons and as you progress through the game the scenery changes pretty drastically

if you are having a brightness issue its could be your display, i played the PS3 version on a calibrated plasma and it looked phenomenal. just had to adjust the in game brightness slightly

LOL I just finished the part in the subway with all the clickers near the beginning of the game and died like 4 times. I forgot how this game is played. Had no shivs and forgot clickers can't be strangled, then tried shooting, got a mob on me, then I snuck by and found the molotov...that helped me out. It really is like I'm starting all over in this game.

Yea that's how I feel too. I started scavenging for stuff and forgot the controls. A lot of the clicker parts you need to just sneak or throw items to a different location.

Not sure if they are affected by your flashlight.

They are blind so that's good.

Yeah played about an hour or so today. Looks fantastic. In the PS3 it wasn't a huge issue just as you start looking around if you were too quick it would still be a blurred low rez texture and some times it would take a moment or two for the normal texture to show up. But honestly it was pretty smooth considering that the ps3 only had 256MB of vram.

They can't see your flashlight, neither the clickers nor the runners. Clickers are blind and can't see you at all. The runners aren't blind but they ignore the flashlight (there's also a tooltip about it in-game). The game has weird physics, especially after you kill someone - the bodies get kicked around as if they didn't weight that much :/ There is noticeable texture pop-in on the environment. Also, the game sometimes slows down noticeably, when there's a bigger vista. A PC could handle it better for sure, especially now that it was ported to an x86 platform.

I definitely like the game. And I know what it heavily reminds me of - "Children of men". Both the general feel of the world and also the colors of it. Such an amazing movie!

I have forgotton most of the mechanics of the gameplay. It's like starting over for the first time. I remember it took me a while to find a comfortable strategy for taking out or evading each type of zombie.

I also like that the transition from gameplay to cutscene is very smooth and you can't tell its a cutscene like you could on ps3.

Well yea of course, I mean if you played the ps3 version the character models in cutscenes looked smoother than the gameplay models. You could tell when one happened. The high res models here do away with that.
