Meh, I liked Signs up until the end, and I also quite liked the Village, though I can't really say why, maybe because of the acting. That said, Lady in the Water and The Happening are 2 of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune of seeing.

Aang was kind of racially ambiguous in the cartoon series IMHO. He could have been asian or white. The kid playing Aang, Noah Ringer, has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do according to this USA Today article.

Ringer didn't need to alter much to play Aang, who uses martial arts to manipulate the weather. Like Aang, Ringer keeps his head shaved and is an expert in martial arts. "It keeps me cool when I'm doing tae kwon do," says Ringer, a Texas native with a black belt who landed the role after sending a homemade DVD of him practicing the sport. "It's so cool to get the part."

Not sure Steven Seagal should be in anything, much less a movie. But, I'll give a pass to 80's/90's martial arts movies in general.

Sixth Sense was great, Unbreakable interesting, rest were garbage.

I think the teaser trailer looks decent. I am skeptical of a live action movie with this storyline but I will probably see it.

With that said, I cannot stand that final shot in the trailer; The Volley of Projectiles ?. That shot has now become so fucking cliche. Is it written in stone somewhere that any movie with a Eastern storyline has to include The Volley of Projectiles ?? It's cliche'. Stop doing it! WTF started this shit anyway? The earliest movie I can think of is the final battle scene in Braveheart.

Dude this is the same post you made on Home Theater Forum.

Sixth was good and Signs was entertaining for me, until the end.

Doubt this movie will please many of the TV series fans. Bottling up the entire character development of a series into a dinky movie such won't cut it. I'll still see it and go in with already crippled expectations, hoping M. Night Shamwow makes a flick that doesn't make my eyes bleed.

I might be mistaken, but I think it is lined up to be more than one movie

It would have to be, probably close to as many as the Harry Potter series.

Ya, true. But they're really going to have to hit the ground running to get the fan-base pleased or beyond mediocre rating that I'm guessing on it getting. I'm not sure how movie contracts are signed, but I'm sure if the first one tanks - studio execs are going to be hard pressed to back another.

And I really hate how pessimistic I'm sounding.. but seriously.. if I have cringing feelings about this movie - the thought of them trying to squeeze out another just for the sake of sequels... eh.

Whatever, I enjoyed the TV series a lot - hope they do some justice with the first.
