I've never seen the cartoon, but know of it. I have no interest in this movie and will not see it. I watched the trailer because it's Shyamalan's project.

With that said, I cannot stand that final shot in the trailer; The Volley of Projectiles ?. That shot has now become so fucking cliche. Is it written in stone somewhere that any movie with a Eastern storyline has to include The Volley of Projectiles ?? It's cliche'. Stop doing it! WTF started this shit anyway? The earliest movie I can think of is the final battle scene in Braveheart.

I liked the series but that trailer looked stupid. The minute long of staff twirling was pointless and the scene came across as...unfinished? At least, I figure it either needed a few more takes to get it right or that kid is just a poor actor.

I don't see there being any "twist" in the movie unless he really destroyes the airbender story. I don't see them giving him that much say in it. his last few movies have sucked.

I don't know why you all seem to hate "The Village." I'd say his movies are hit and miss after "Unbreakable." Hated "Signs," "Lady In the Water," "The Happening," etc, but "The Village" was genuinely entertaining.

I saw the trailer and have seen alot of the stills from the movie and am hoping for the best but expecting mediocre. I liked watching the cartoon series with my son. It was easily the best American cartoon series since Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League.

I'm hoping that Airbender will give M. Knight the opportunity to break out of the pigeon hole he placed himself into because a twist is neither needed or expected with the adaptation of this movie.

As for the volley of shots, that is almost straight out of of the cartoon with the Fire Nation fleet attacking with a volley of fireballs from their ships.

Great tv show, even for adults, terrific writing. My nephews love it. MKS hasn't done well in a while, hope he pulls through on this one just for the Avatar's sake. Trailer was decent for a teaser.

You didn't have the trick ending of The Village figured out 3 minutes in? Really??

Signs could have been good. I liked the story, but it felt too dragged along.

Of course the build up felt dragged, that was all he had. The payoff was a joke. Signs was a really good movie right up until the moment the monsters showed up, then it all went to hell.

hmm, I don't see Appa on imdb. Maybe since he doesn't speak they didn't cast a voice actor for him.

The whole Aang isn't White debate is fierce on a lot of forums. Which is dumb because he's white, not that it matters, it's just what he is according to his depictions.

In other casting lulz:

Aasif Mandvi ... Commander Zhao

Its gonna suck... The cartoon series was really good, however, part of what made it good was the martial arts mixed with bending. This kid looked extremely slow when doing his stick twirling. I doubt he is going to be able to be anywhere near as nibble as Aang is supposed to be. The need someone at the speed of Jet Lee to do Aang justice.

An unexpected twist isn't the only way to make a good movie. In particular, I liked the way it tied everything up with a neat little bow even after everything seemed blown and the deception was uncovered. There was a lot of tension there AFTER the twist was revealed and it was all resolved better than I could have thought.
