Yes, of course. The documentary, like all documentaries, is telling a story. It does leave stuff out, embellish other parts, and judicially portray characters in a way that serves the story they are trying to tell.
I have no problem with this because, ultimately, the story is interesting on it's own merits, and not the merits of the real people in it. If you want the whole truth, read a news article. If you want a great story, see this movie.
