Then the prayer is working. You all can keep any opinions otherwise to yourselves as they certainly aren't going to do any good to anyone. And ya, he did say it doesn't help them.

No it isn't, you praying for the families to make yourself feel better without actually DOING anything for the families is nothing but a selfish act on your part. You use the prayer to make yourself feel better while doing nothing for the families.

Whether my opinions are welcomed by you or not is not of any importance to me. I really could not care less what a selfish arsehole "christian-by-name-alone" angry little punk on AT P&N thinks of me expressing them.

Fucking get over it then, you're whining that I derailed the thread and look at what you're doing... You are in no place to tell anyone they're a piece of shit with all the BS you say on this forum.

DIAF.

I said how I felt and nothing more, I only came back and commented after you folks started whining about it. Although I said Prayer would not work, I DID offer my support and well wishes and that was it...then the religious crowd came into the thread to whine about me stating my opinion.

The only people in here trying to start drama are you guys. I didn't say anything inflammatory, you folks just got your panties in a bunch..

Whether you think it does any good or not it helps the families of the victims to know people are praying for them.

Ya, people pray because they are selfish. I am done with the 2 of you, it's pointless.

everytime I see those kids' pictures all I can think of is somehow, God, I wish somehow I could revive that asshole so I could put a bullet through his skull, then revive him, another bullet through the skull, revive again,... till his head is nothing but a bloody mess of pulp. I'm sorry if this is inappropriate in this thread but that's how I've been feeling since Friday.
I'm so angry yet so hopeless. The hopelessness of knowing that it will happen again and again and again to innocent people and there's nothing within my power of a person to do anything about the whole situation.

You're making it easy for yourself by not actually reading what i'm saying.

Yes indeed, if you pray for someone instead of taking the time and effort to actually do something for them and you do this only because it makes you feel better then it is indeed the very definition of being selfish.

If you don't understand this then i really cannot help you.

That's a strange idea, if you had the power to revive anyone, why would you revive the shooter and not one of the children?

What I think happens in a crisis like this is that we are confronted with the impotency of our rage. We have all this anger and pain and no place to find relief. We were born children with an infinite capacity to love and set on a journey through hell, our capacity to love killed by a mountain of grief. Our mission, should we chose to accept it, is to die for our sins on the cross, to nail ourselves there, look at this hideous mess and forgive. When that is done to the last transgression we will return to the kingdom of heaven as the child of the image in which we were created.

What i think happens is that people get angry at the cause of the deaths and want justice.

It's not strange at all, it's inherent in all of us to want to punish the guilty and save the innocent and it's nothing that anyone should fight.

We, as human beings are not born innocent, we are not inherently good or bad but rather a mix of both and no matter how poetic you put it that is still how we are made. Not in an image of anything but rather by the cruelty of the world that nature has provided us with and that made us into the beings we are.

You know not and have been forgiven. Did you but know it you would know you are without sin. The image and the imagined are all one and the same thing you and your reflection. It isn't poetry. It's what is when you lose everything that can be taken. What you have stated are your assumptions. let go of them. You are not alone.

It's difficult not to feel rage over it and also completely hopeless. I am a news hound and have ignored most of the news about it. There's nothing I can do with it; I don't want to internalize it because it's so horrific. I'm just skipping most of it over.

20 children died from a violent act and thousands are now mourning in a way which will make no direct impact on this tragedy.

A child in Africa dies from malaria every 30 seconds and under nutrition contributes to the deaths of 5.6 million children every year.

If you have been wishing there was something you could do to save those children, to ease the pain of those families, put your money where your mouth is. You CAN make an immediate and drastic difference in the survival of a child.

Donate in honor of Sandy Hook.

I don't like the term "sin" because of it's religious connotations, i don't consider things like shagging a random woman on a Saturday night a sin. When it comes to forgiveness i am not seeking it, i'll live with myself until i don't.

My assumptions are not assumptions, it's based observation of the world. We as a species are not inherently good or bad, our evolution has made us into a species that cooperates when needed but that doesn't make us good nor does it make us bad, it just makes us human.
