The Jordan Webpage...

it's flash 8, and it's nike. A multi-billion dollar company.

I'm sure it didn't cost more than 20 bucks.

The page loaded in like 20 seconds for me, and as for navigating I haven't ran into 1 problem yet.

Seriously, it's been a ridiculously smooth experience.

*shrug*

Sorry I guess?

Navigation is hard because you have to mouse over everything to figure out what does what. Pretty annoying in my opinion.

I LOVE the new jumpman commercial and went to that site a while ago to see if they had it, I agree it 'looks' spiffy, but it navigates like a pregnant woman and it's hard to tell what section is what.

You have to roll over things to see what they are. Except when you roll over something, everything else drops into the background. Very annoying.

I disagree.

Anyone else have an idea?

It's flashy (no pun intended 😉) and pretty, but the problem with flash-only sites is that they break some of the basic principles of web interfaces that all web users are familiar with.

For instance, most users expect to be able to hit the back button and return to the page they last visited. This doesn't work on a flash-only site.

Good user interfaces should reuse interface controls that the user knows and is comfortable with. That's why Windows applications generally reuse the same Microsoft common controls; if I need to save a file, I'm immediately familiar with the dialog window regardless of the application I'm using. Web sites are no different, and it's best to work with the familiar concepts of HTML and browser navigation rather than to try and subvert them.

Soooo yea, any examples of a good flash site?

Show me the light.

Homestarrunner.com?

IMO, no flash site is a good flash site, but since H*R is purely for entertainment, it's forgivable.
