Also, what exactly is she protesting them catching? See this link...
Mahi-Mahi (Dolphin)
Note the fact Japan catches 50% of her beloved "Dolphins".

This is NOT the mammal dolphin. Surely, her and the stoner eco group realized this before they went there and threw a hissy fit about it. Otherwise, her hair color has just proved an old wives tale about IQ.

Delicious Dolphin Recipies! Note the areas where these fish are caught. "Mahi-mahi feed off shore, near the surface,"

Also, I just watched that video, too. And it was obviously spliced together from several different video cameras and sources. Obviously, in some segments they were killing actual Dolphins, and not the fish version. But you can not tell from all the splicing what is what. And the Chinese eat anything that moves, even each other. That video footage might have been of the Chinese slaughtering Dolphins. Those other Dolphins might have been stuck in the trapping pens in Japan, and not the source of that slaughter. But we can not be sure about that. This is why we have "Dolphin safe" tuna on most cans of tuna now, in fact. Where you find schools of fish, you find higher species like Dolphins feeding on them.

Don't get persuaded by these one camera edits. You should be adult enough to see both sides. What, you think these Japanese farmers/meat workers are some kind of evil human beings? They're working hard in their blue-collar jobs to provide for their family. Why do you think the police is sympathetic to them against the foreign activists? Are they breaking ANY laws of their country or of ANY country?

I don't see them going after cow slaughter house or pig processing plants.

If you are opposed to this, please state one good reason WHY and how dolphins are different from other animals various cultures including us consume today.

well i think based on science you can safely say that dolphins are one of the smartest animals besides humans. that might be a consideration on whether we should eat them.

So we're discriminating animals based on intelligence? Maybe your cousin with a down sydrome should be subjected to less rights than us because they're just dumber.

err are you argueing against eating all animals then?

But you will note the complex, multiple trapping nets they were using. It looked like they were trying to sort out different species of fish for trapping near the shore. Those particular Dolphins were not necessarily being slaughtered by those fishermen. But it made a good news clip for her eco group to pretend they were, regardless.

And BTW, don't go quoting Wikipedia if you plan on calling anyone an idiot, that is just plain dumb. Thanks for trying to insult someone, though. Maybe you can edit the link and up the kill 100x and repost the Wiki link again, for all the bleeding hearts out there, to really drive your point home.

Uh, a human isn't an animal.

So Hayden should only grieve for animals that are smart enough? Damn those poor bears, cows, pigs and chickens because no one would grieve for them simply because they're not cutesy or smart enough.

I'm confused, exactly how do you know what Hayden supports and doesn't support.

Based on her actions and her tear-induced 'baby dolphin' speech, how does one not know?

I'm as liberal as they come, but I have absolutely no problems with the processing of any species fit for human consumption, assuming we (i.e., humans) do our part to protect against said species' extinction.

Would I eat a monkey if it tasted good? Yep.

People hate dolphins being slaughtered because they make cute sounds. This is why they hate it happening to seals, too. That and the blood in the water is awful, as is blood on crisp white snow where a seal has been bludgeoned. Chickens across the country are being hacked up as are cows in slaughter houses. It's a dirty business, but food is food.

I could see attacking this on a philosophical plane, against eating animals of higher evolution (elephants, dolphins, apes, and monkeys), by addressing the culture that consumes these animals and trying to change the mindset of the consumers of the foodstuff, but to try and confront the harvesters of the animals is just plain stupid.

If she wants to stop the eating of dolphin then take out ads in Japan explaining her point of view and to help change the Japanese way of thinking.

Are Hindus coming to America, telling us to stop eating hamburgers & cows? I can see why people are partial to dolphins, but food is food. In one culture eating a certain animal is ok, in another it isn't. That's just how it is, and respect it... but if it's an endangered species then the consumption is & should be illegal.

AT is in serious need of an IQ test for new members.

"Great SCOTT!"

"He's got a post count LOWER than MINE!" (Too much time on your hands?)

"He must be a MORON since he posts less than I do!"

"Watch me flout my inflated I.Q. while inferring he's a little boy!"

So with every post count, you actually gain I.Q. points? I had no idea! So your I.Q is now 6764?

WOW! And I am just up to 128!

If it's a Wiki link, I won't click it, because I personally don't care for it. If that's the best you can provide for link just because it appears at the top of your google search, my hats off to you. Congrats. You just gave Wiki, the "edit at will internet junk encyclopedia" one more hit, not I.

Thanks for also reposting links to your information without filtering it through a crap strainer , too. Makes you seem to be a lot more credible that way.

And BTW, in case you are inferring somehow that I did not think they killed Dolphins there, you are wrong. A lot of island nations do this. And unless Dolphins are as smart as everyone says they are, they will become extinct unless they are smart enough to not get caught so easily. So trying to compare them to a human, as some posters are, is a tough call, in light of the ease of capturing them in the first place.

You're kidding right? Those dolphins weren't going to be slaughtered like prior ones. Did you see the blood coming out of the cove? Why would the fisherman go after the surfers?

I'm totally against it and think it's sick. At least you can hope that they'd be humanely killed instead of being slaughtered alive.

Okay. I'll try to be serious with you then.

If you are biased like that, which is fine as we're all entitled to our own opinions, who's in actually in the wrong here?

We all eat beef, chicken, dolphins, foie gras, veal, tuna etc. Japanese are eating dolphins because that's their thing. They're not breaking any laws here or anywhere. You don't see them protesting about you eating steak.

Skin color isn't even an issue here actually. I like to eat what I eat, you like to eat what you eat. Neither party is committing crimes of ANY SORT by eating what we each like to eat nor is it unethical.

Who's in the wrong here then? The slaughterhouse workers who are working in their legitimate business or some hippie brats who TRESPASS and are running away from the police?

One of the things that bothers me more about dolphins is that dolphins are more intelligent than cows. I have heard stories about how dolphins have circled a human swimmer to protect him/her against sharks until they were rescued.
