Why was he on the injured list for years ? Some sort of psyche out for the other team or something ?

Seems like it would lose its effectiveness after a season or so.

I hope it's not career ending. Seriously, yeah, that's the ticket.

If it was career threatening he wouldnt have walked off the field, he would have been on a cart.

With some ACL Tears you see people walking off the field fine. Not many injuries are career ending with medicine these days but I wouldn't be surprised if he's out for the season.

An ACL tear shouldn't keep him from walking off the field at all. It'd probably hurt like hell, and swell quite a bit, but he should still be able to walk just fine.
I ripped mine in half in 2003 and continued to work every day for the next 2-1/2 months until the doctor took me off work. (without the ACL, walking can be...awkward...as part of the "hinge mechanism" is now non-functional, and the knee can bend in...unusual directions)

I hate Pat fans as much as anyone, but you never want to see someone get injured. Especially since Brady was going to get pounded into the turf all season like he was against the Giants.

If the Pats make the playoffs without him will all the "OMG Tom Brady greatest QB evar" keep sniffing his jock strap?

So Moss and Belichick think it was a dirty hit. The latter even said he makes a point of his players not hitting the knee. Gee, maybe he should mention that to J.P. Losman.

Belicheck obviously had access to a video angle that no one else had showing it was dirty. :p

I wouldn't even be cheering for P. Manning go down, he's far too fun to watch even though I'm not a fan of his.

here's the thing:

The patriots are a great team. Brady has always been an adequate, yet unspectacular QB that fits the system.

I estimate that there are at least 10 QBs sitting on benches throughout the league that would have an identical career as Brady had they been in that system.

I don't want anyone to go out like this; I'm just glad that there is now the opportunity for someone else to step up, prove Brady's normalcy, and remove the fairy dust from the eyes of 50% of sports-fandom. (only 50%, of course, b/c there is no hope for Boston/New England-type fans. They have proven this time and time again)

We'll see how the Pats and Bill Belichick do without Brady.

you're right. 3 superbowl wins and the league touchdown record = unspectacular

Pats fans don't need to be so doom and gloom. Some other average QB will step in perform nearly as well and they'll still coast to the playoffs.

Moss more than doubled Brady's career season TD average last year, and he'll just do it for someone else this year. Now maybe everyone will realize he was the real 2007 MVP.

I'm not saying he's not good. your argument doesn't do anything to deny my assertion that several other QBs with his line and talented offense can be just as successful. Rex Grossman would be MVP with that system (well...maybe not Grossman... :D)

They're a playoff team without Brady. I don't know why you dudes piss on yourselves about this.

Kind've lame how people are cheering an injury.

The patriots and brady and their fans caused the reaction. Nobody else. Karma is a bitch.

Truth.

No, false, haters looking for an excuse to hang their hat on, "everyone hates the Pat's anyway", yea, that fits!, now it's OK to cheer when the QB blows out a knee. Just looking for an excuse to be to be classless..

I don't know about that. There are teams that have equal or better talent on that offense and it still comes down to the QB making enough plays for them to win. Brady has that knack to come through when necessary (maybe its because he doesn't panic unless he's playing the Giants) and he's won with teams much crappier than this.

I think the biggest point, though, is that the Patriots' offense in 2001, 2003, 2004 wasn't very good at all. He had a solid line, but mediocre receivers and still guided the team to three SBs.

The argument can go back and forth -- clearly, QBs are dependent on the rest of their team to be successful, and it is also clear that the team is dependent on the QB.

Personally, I think Brady will wind up in the HoF, just like Peyton, but even without him, the Patriots should still make the playoffs.
