The iPad II (2) effect ... crazyness at the Apple store

Flash had nothing to do with sales for either. It's principle, and Steve Jobs is a piece of shit.

People who buy Apple products fall into one of these categories:

People who genuinely like Mac OS's best
People who genuinely like the aesthetics of the products
People who think it makes them "better" than those without

Unfortunately the majority fall into the latter. They're retarded consumer whores.

Seriously, this works for both Android and Apple stuff. This will always be the case when you have two competing products.

while legions of samsung tabs and XOOM's sit on their respective shelves, I now can't find an iPad @ Apple, Target, Best Buy, OR Wal-Mart.

shit, WHY DID I PASS OUT LAST NIGHT.

I was in a LA Costco last night, GF bought a camera...

While we were picking it up from the electronics cage I asked the guy how many XOOM's they'd sold. He got a funny look and spun his terminal around for me, and punched up XOOM sales since launch, 3.

I just came from a Best Buy and one of the Yellow shirts told me they had 150 iPads, all spoken for in minutes after handing out the tickets... He said they hadn't had lines like this since Black Friday...

Apple is good at that, eh?

I wish I could get an internship at apple for marketing, but I'd probably not be cool enough.

No, you just have to know how make people think what is cool for them. Thus you must make them think you are cool enough. Just dress and act like they do in the blackberry commercials, but with iStuff.

Don't self yourself short bro. :sneaky:

iPad IIs are now showing up on CL ... some for over $1,200! Who is more foolish ... the person who stands in line for many hours to buy a tablet PC or the one who spends many hundreds of dollars for one?

Ask =/ sell price. Top of the line model is close to $1k after tax. Seller gets paid for their work standing in line. Buyer gets the product without waiting. Sounds like win-win for both parties.

I have the iPad 1 and kind of wanted the 2 but decided to wait until the resolution is higher and it supports some 4g format.

After all this time? You do know it takes time to create a whole new product right? Create a whole new OS and hardware for it.

They've gotten the jump just like in phone land and great for them cus they pushed the technology to make it grow which is great for us and just like in cellphone land the competition is going to surpass it. It can't happen over night, it takes time to create decent competition.

Android already existed, no need to create a whole new OS. These companies have been creating laptops and/or smartphones for years. Tablets are simply a different form factor for what already exists. There's nothing magical about tablet technology.

The iPad was announced in Jan 2010. Assuming that everyone else in the industry was asleep at the wheel and never even fathomed that people might want something similar to a smartphone but in a larger format until the day of the iPad announcement, that's still 14 months ago which should have been more than enough time to put something together. But the point things are at today, anything that's even remotely competitive with the iPad costs $800.

There should be heads rolling on the boardroom tables of these other companies for letting Apple have unfettered market domination.

Even if it's a touch OS, one for a small screen does not work on a large screen. We already know this which is why even Google had to make a tablet specific OS. 14 months is not that long of a time. Look how long it took competition to pass the iPhone. It takes time to create good competing products.

Apple got a huge jumpstart in the phone space and the tablet space but just like the phone space, their lead is not going to last forever. It's just how it is. Too much competition that is going to be cheaper. The biggest difference this time is that competition is coming quicker than it did in smartphone land.

Whoever paid 900 for a spot to pay 500 for an item is fucking retarded.

Heh, someone paid my friend and I $800 each for our spot in line for the PS3. We camped outside Target for 3 days, grilled steak and got fucked up on wine.

The best part was that I didn't have enough money to buy a PS3 anyway.

I was in NYC for the big east tournament last night and snapped this pic at like 3:40. lol apple people.

Heh, I'm taking a class on Saturdays, and a guy brought an iPad 2 to class today and was using it to take notes. He said he sold his original iPad but I note that he never brought his original iPad to class before today, even though he could have taken notes on that. It was only to show everyone he had one.

Some first day early adopters are egotistical show offs? Stop the presses!
