I got a tablet a month ago to access work email/IM during travel - personally I never saw much point in them, but gotta say I've been using it a lot more than I thought I would. I barely used my laptop while on vacation, and I still use it often. And it's a fairly run-of-the-mill non-highend tablet (Samsung S10 FE).

It's a combination of my being anal about privacy and my company about security lol.
I chose to buy a tablet because I didn't like the alternatives:
a) bring work laptop with me. It was an overseas flight, and I have a personal light laptop specifically bought for traveling. Traveling with both defeats the purpose of having a light one, I did that once, it was terrible.
b) allow company to install SW on my personal phone.

So I "sacrificed" a cheapish tablet, it's not like I only use it for work. I'm actually quite happy I bought it as can be inferred from my previous post.

The backup vocalists carried DLR as he is struggling to sound great at 70yo. But he told hilarious stories, was quite the on-stage showman, and the use of the bullhorn was solid. Almost 2hrs in length and the crowd never sat!

Purchased a new leather Dopp kit from North Star Leather Co in anticipation of our trip to Italy in October. I'm in Ohio for 7 days giving a test before we go and so far I really like it. It fits everything I need and doesn't take up to much space in my bag.

Today I learned that those things are called dopp kits. My dad had one he probably bought in college that he used for 60+ years.

It is 5.1mm according to the specs. Traded in a Tab S9 Ultra 512GB, with a credit of $700 + $120 bonus.
I'm waiting for a Spigen/Supcase protective case as soon as they become available.
My S9 Ultra Supcase Unicorn Beetle can't be used since the power and audio buttons positons were swapped, plus the camera is off by a few mm.

Ready to transfer all the data from the S9 Ultra to the S11 Ultra, cable to cable.

Done. Verified that all my pics, apps, settings were sucessfully transfered/copied.
Did a factory reset after that and moved the 1TB microSD to the S11 Ultra.

With my collection the size it is I only buy whiskey if I come across something fairly rare that I don't own yet. Today was such a day. I've had the 7 (sometimes 8) plenty of times and curious how it compares.

My son just called and told me his Samsung Tab (forgot what model) has not been working well. Battery not hold charge and the tablet would freeze from time to time. After rebooting it, cleared cached.. etc, still doesn't work properly. But he just got a new bike, so its too early to get him a new tablet. but he is using it to take class notes. Black Friday, can you come sooner!
How was the S9 Ultra? I wonder if it is an overkill for a college kid to just use it to take note...

Get in the program, fuck with a soft keyboard, or perhaps we'll make it exciting, and work with a bluetooth keyboard. We can then pair that up, and dick around with shitty keys trying to get notes in. That vs open the book, write. If you use a wood pencil, a simple glance will tell you whether or not it'll work. If it won't, a knife will fix it.

Get in the program, fuck with a soft keyboard, or perhaps we'll make it exciting, and work with a bluetooth keyboard. We can then pair that up, and dick around with shitty keys trying to get notes in. That vs open the book, write. If you use a wood pencil, a simple glance will tell you whether or not it'll work. If it won't, a knife will fix it.

yep, i asked him if pencil/pen and paper. He did that in high school.. but nope, too much info and he said its no longer as easy to simply use a pen to write them now.

Possibly. There's certainly a lot more information to deal with.

I remember learning Turbo C 3.0 in my 2nd semester. That was something like a whole semester of trying to digest the incoming knowledge. Then I participated in the 42 bootcamp in 2021 and it was crazy hectic. Just 26 days of learning Linux shell commands and advanced C going as far as function pointers. I didn't get there in my semester and also wasn't able to get there in 26 days! But there were younger 20 something kids who worked 14 hours in the lab, slept in special access sleeping rooms and basically aced the whole thing with 90+ marks in the final 8 hour exam!

For non-coders, a function pointer or just "pointer" tells the program to go to a cell and follow whatever instruction is there. It's so powerful because you can change the contents of the cell on the fly. Probably not a great explanation, but I'm hopingthat I hit the high points.

Anyway, Dbase IV, you could create pointers. That let me write a self-adapting program so the user could mix and match fields in different ways on the fly. The grand fromages seemed duly impressed.

It will however drive you completely mad. You're yanking on dozens of different strings that are constantly changing, It's easier if you enjoy pain.
