They should be here Thursday. I have pricier headphones but I like to try new things. I've been rocking a pair of closed back Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250ohm headphones all summer because of the air conditioner noise. It will be fun trying something different.

Paired with the X-Fi device, they do sound different but not sure if you will like them. The only thing I can say for sure is they sound different when X-Fi is turned on, like the sound is coming from somewhere your ears are not expecting them to come from.

I hear they have a v-shaped sound and have fast bass. How did you like yours?

Unbeknownst to us, apparently we still had to buy the textbooks, so we had to drop $400+ in order for her to register for her next class. My kid's e-textbooks were not re-sellable. He said they have limited on how long they are accessible. So after one semester, he couldn't access the old ones.

I have time tonight to see how we're supposed to access them (if they're available) but if not, that's complete BS. What a racket!

We may just have to opt for physical copies, but the JUCO is 30mins away. My daughter is already complaining about possibly having to use real books. In her high school classes, everything is on the chrome books they give out. Kids these days smh lol
 
I prefer the tactile experience of holding trees, but I don't like the space they take up. Also, it's convenient carrying books on my phone, but you can fuck off with drm, or proprietary readers. If I'm desperate for something, I'd consider drmd books I have the ability to crack, but I don't like supporting fuckery with my money. Can't crack it? Not a chance of you getting my money.
 
About to purchase all new garage doors. Our house is 10 years old -- our front-facing 2 car and 1 car doors are solid wood. Which in principle, sounds great. The reality is they're heavy AF and are killing the springs/openers, continuously causing the track hardware to loosen, are faded AF and would need to be completely redone, are poorly installed, and have water damage due to the driveway shifting/previous owner not having gutters installed.

We'll be getting 3-layer steel doors. Super well insulated with full weather stripping around the perimeter. Springs will have a life-time guarantee.

Not a fun expense, but a necessary one.

I can't fathom using digital media for school. Something about physically touching the books makes it feel like I'm actually absorbing the information lol.

Like $15k lol -- 1x 2-car, 2x 1-car (driveway facing and one that goes into the backyard). We live in TX, so these are 3-layered for added insulation. Lifetime warranties on all of the things (we're going to be in this house for 10+ years).

If your doors are fine, just get rollers/springs regularly maintained and/or replaced.

That's an odd situation as wood doors are considered a an upgrade. They're big money and generally very well made. Shame you have to toss them.
 
Went in with a friend of mine I work with on a portable winch. We each paid half

Also getting $600 in climbing gear free with the order. Friend will likely get that stuff since he climbs more, and is more into mechanical devices. I prefer hitch based systems.
 
We'll probably be using it together, but it's hard to say. I had a real need for it a couple years ago, but nothing by myself for awhile. We were working together this past weekend, and the winch would've been really nice to have. Had to get rid of willow oak brush in the woods, and it seemed like the tree was never ending. Really kicked my ass. I don't do well in the heat. Ended up puking once.

It's the heat. Been happening the last couple years. The fetid MD summers have been getting to me. The filthy stink of the south, and it's only getting worse, cause of course it is. Anthropogenic change couldn't make things cooler. That just wouldn't be shitty, and we can't have things unless they're shitty...
