The hypocrisy of OkCupid

Remember how OkCupid had a campaign to oust mozilla CEO because he donated to prop 8?

Well,

Then on Monday it emerged that OkCupid’s co-founder and CEO Sam Yagan made a donation to a congressional candidate who opposed same-sex marriage, voted against a ban on sexual-orientation based job discrimination and for prohibition of gay adoptions, according to Uncrunched.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Make financial donation to candidate who opposed same sex marriage, then call for ousting of CEO who donated to Prop 8.

Sam Yagan made the donations a decade ago, but so what? If society is going hold political affiliation against people, when is Sam Yagan going to resign?

You're stretching here. Donating money to a candidate is not the same as donating money to a specific cause. Do you agree 100% with every single thing a particular politician does?

If a candidate supports a stance you find so abhorrent that you think it is reasonable to try and get some fired for holding that same stance how can you justify financially supporting that candidate.

I didn't support the outrage at the other person either, but like I stated I don't think this is the exact same thing like people are trying to make it out to be. I also don't see any of Chris Cannon's voting history prior to 2007 and the dontation to him by the okcupid guy was in 2004. http://www.opencongress.org/people/voting_history/400059_christopher_cannon/63

Also viewpoints can change, like quoted in this article:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...-to-oust-mozilla-ceo-over-political-donation/ Of course, it’s been a decade since Yagan’s donation to Cannon, and a decade or more since many of Cannon’s votes on gay rights. It’s possible that Cannon’s opinions have shifted, or maybe his votes were more politics than ideology; a tactic by the Mormon Rep. to satisfy his Utah constituency. It’s also quite possible that Yagan’s politics have changed since 2004: He donated to Barack Obama’s campaign in 2007 and 2008. Perhaps even Firefox’s Eich has rethought LGBT equality since his 2008 donation. But OkCupid didn’t include any such nuance in its take-down of Firefox. Combine that with the fact that the company helped force out one tech CEO for something its own CEO also did, and its action last week starts to look more like a PR stunt than an impassioned act of protest.

Did the Mozilla CEO come out and say "I regret my donation to that cause, in the last 5-6 years I've come to realize that everyone should have equal rights"? Not saying that he needs to change his opinion, but obviously if he has changed his opinion he should have said something. We will still have to wait to see what the Okcupid guy's response is.

When people get mad enough at him to do something about it. So far they have not.

Supporting a candidate, means you support a cause.

Then it's agreed; all supporters of the GOP are OK with rape and support it,.. especially when a child is the result of it.

No second cousin Comparisons here, either post a direct connection to an anti-gay group or shut up.

I wouldn't hold my breath looking for logic that didn't require multiple twists and turns from Texashiker or nahelam.

So you excuse a republic (elected officials) voting against gay marriage. Just the people can not promote a true democracy? Prop 8 was a true democracy, which was the will of the people.

A republic can vote against gay marriage, but a democracy can not?

If opposition to same-sex marriage is such an abhorrent view that running a virtual lynching of the dude is justified, how can you with a straight face justify supporting a candidate with such a view.

Being gay is like:

Insurance Fraud

Who
If my buddy was out of a job and had a long term illness like cancer, why cant we get married just so he can be added to my health insurance?

Attending a KKK rally:

If my wife and our husband want to go to a KKK rally, what business is it of yours?

All sorts of random inapplicable atrocities:

Forced sterilization.
Moonshine.
Slavery.
Polygamy.
Prostitution.
Pornography (oppression of, fired for making).

The government has a long history of oppressing civil rights.

Killing babies and eating them (OK now wtf?)

Much like cannibalism and infanticide, even though gay behavior occurs in the animal world, it is not natural to humans.

Get ready to leave Earth's orbit, because being gay is like being a Wolverine. And Russia invading Crimea.

Besides the glbt community acting like a rabid wolverine, gay marriage does not directly affect me.

You know something, neither did Crimea. But that did not stop obama from freaking out and putting sanctions on Russia.

OK we are getting back on track here.....being gay is like being black in 1960s USA

The blacks did a lot better job in the 1960s than the gays are doing today....

Ah shit, nevermind. Being gay is like being a homeless person giving $10 hand-ers to an Israeli in Crimea....again with Crimea....??

Does prostitution affect you?
Does monogamy affect you?
Does Crimea affect you?
Does Israel affect you?
Does some homeless person smoking crack affect you?
If some homeless guy or woman wants to give $10 blowjobs and smoke crack, it does not affect you.

Like the G8 suspending Russia for....you guessed it...Crimea!

Lets use the argument used by gay rights, if it does not affect you, it is none of your business.

Do not use your own morals and values to judge another nation. That is not your place.

I think we all know what kind of "raw milk" he secretly wants to drink ;)

Do we have a right to decide for our bodies or not? If someone wants to drink raw milk, or have gay sex, what right does the government have to say no?

Vaccinating children

Uh no.

But if vaccinated children had the highest rates of infection, the government would take some kind of action. Maybe even passing laws to force parents to vaccinate their children.

And about 1000 pedophile references that I couldn't even get to. I only went back to February....

Motion for ban

If anyone wants to edit this scroll that was made for a different member, and keep track of everything that being gay is like according to TH

I seriously LOL'ed.

As for the insurance, why would it be insurance fraud?

Who are you to define what marrige means between two people?

That is why true democracy's are such terrible things. Good thing I live in a republic that only uses some democratic principles. Otherwise all that would really matter is who could make the public the most afraid. Then they could ban anything they wanted.
