VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - It's now official...Vancouver has set a new all-time temperature record of nearly 34 degrees. The past record was 33.3 degrees - set August 9th, 1960.

The humidex reading for YVR topped 38 degree, and of course it is a few degrees hotter away from the water and downtown.

it hit 106 today according to my indoor/outdoor thermometer out in the Salem area. . I have central air so its a nice 70 in here though.

*sigh*
Yet another beautiful day in the mid-70's here, even though it rained.

Keep that heat up there, will ya?

We have had our fair share of 100 degree or over days already this summer.

Supposed to be in the high 80's to mid 90's for the next week.

Last week when it was 103+, our humidity pumped up...to 19% one day...normally, when it's that hot, it's about 10-15% tops. 😀

This is bs... All I heard about Seattle summer was "oh, it never gets hot here... 80 tops!"... yeah right. I thought I was going to escape the Atlanta heat for at least one summer...

Ugh, well at least it seems it should be over now.

dry in spokane, we're in a semi-desert ..although people water the hell out of their lawns to try to counteract it

For once it's the suckers on the other side of the hills that are getting the heat. What a bunch of cry babies.

Go to Hell, Pizza.😛

Hey, come February, someone else will get their turn to be pompous about their weather. It's just nice to point out that we NYers can put on jackets during the winter, but have our share of wonderful weather too.

is it dry or humid heat?

Humid..and I hate it. I thought moved away from this type of weather [Bay Area - San Jose].

Give me a place where the temperature is between 40-70 and basically no humidity all year round and I'll be happy

Don't worry, it's global warming.

Probably is and is a reason to be concerned.

I was saying the same thing to myself just last week when we were experiencing record lows in Nashville!

It's all about the Change. You were likely seeing a future Normal.

Wrong forum asshole.

It's not abnormal for the NW to get heat waves, although this one may be higher than usual.
I grew up in Eugene and every summer, there was at least one week with temps in the 90's. I remember at least one summer when it hit 105.
The difference is that it doesn't last long, then you are back to perfect summer weather (highs in the 70's to low 80's, with low humidity).

I'm in Charlotte, NC now and I frickin hate July and August here. But the other 10 months of the year, our weather is vastly superior to the Northwest.

Hot here in Wrangell AK (SE Alaska) though not as nasty as it is back home in Hillsboro OR.

That's got to be the best town name ever!

We have yet to hit 100 in Charlotte this year. Actually, we've had an unusual number of days this summer that didn't even crack 90.
<knocks furiously on wood>

If I had unlimited funds, I'd spend my summers in Eugene or Portland and my winters ANYWHERE ELSE.

Actually, you did. And then you brought it up again after the topic died.
