An interesting look at how different types of training effect the heart. Thought it'd be good to post since everybody seems to be under the impression that interval training is always superior to steady state cardio, which is definitely not true. Especially when it comes to beginner trainers.
However, because of the recent overwhelming trend of HIIT beginner trainers seem to think HIIT must be done or they're muscles are going to fall off and they won't lose any fat. So they end up using training methods that are way too advanced for them when they haven't even build a good cardiovascular base. People wouldn't recommend an advanced lifting routine without recommending something like Starting Strength to build a base, but low to moderate steady state cardio seems to always skipped for more advanced HIIT, ignoring the fact that beginners should build a base before doing such training.
HIIT is great and has its place in a persons training regiment, but it shouldn't be used exclusively and definitely shouldn't be used by beginners.
