Is there a decent number of people playing this online? Considering how few there are playing vanilla UT3 I'd be surprised.

Not enough, that's why I've been posting about it on several sites. It's definitely a game people would get into, but it's got the stigma of also being built on top of UT3, which not a lot of people own. For $20 on Steam, it's well worth picking up UT3 just to play this.
Today there were 5 servers up with 2-4 people on each one tho, compared to 2 yesterday, so maybe more people are actually hoping on.
If you're into games like the zombie mode in COD:WAW, Killing Floor, Painkiller, or Resident Evil 5, it's definitely worth a look.
thanks - i played it on my notebook .. very fun and challengingOriginally posted by: dj2004

.. how is it?
It's actually pretty fun, it's just you on whatever map fighting hordes of monsters, pretty challenging.
Definitely a challenge in SP. I can do the easiest setting, and will now have to try to step up.I found a nice camping spot in Canyon that should do nicely...

got this a while back and can't see what all the rave is about. it's pretty repetitve and boring, and too simple for my tastes. plus its too hard to find an online game going.

Can you use your UT3 login for this game or do you have to create another log-in?

Since it's just a modification of UT3, your UT3 login will work fine.

It's been pretty easy to find a server with 2-3 people, at least over the weekend, since the 2.5 release came out, which improves on a lot of things and makes some pretty significant changes to the gameplay mechanic.
I think the biggest problem is that there are only like 5-6 dedicated servers going at any one time, so if anything, it was hard this weekend to find a server that wasn't full. Luckily, I finally got my server to show up on the list on the internet so I was able to host a few games.

no, the problem with this game is that it has no depth. it makes killing floor look like a highly complex game. all you do is shoot zombies, there is no dynamic element like KF has with traders, waves, etc. the only thing "cool" is the runestones you have to shoot to save teammates. may be fun for the first day you play but afterwards, it has almost no replaybility. i don't get why you're so crazy about this game, are you part of the dev team or something?

No, I just enjoy it. Sorry you don't enjoy it, obviously your taste is law. I would just like to see more people playing it. I like Killing Floor a lot too (I've mentioned it in several forum posts here), I think both games have something to offer, and I can see this game being fleshed out into a standalone product just like KF was if enough people enjoy it.
Quite a few people I played with over the weekend thought it was a great mod, I respect that you don't, but you don't have to come across with the "plant" scenario. I've been a member of this forum community for damned near a decade, and I like to share gaming experiences I enjoy, especially ones that are free or cheap, with people here on the boards.
Apparently you just like to criticize people's tastes. I guess that's contributing too, congratulations.

I really enjoyed it but yes, it doesn't have much replayablility but it could be played every so often if some of us get on at the same time. If you're on let us know.

My gaming time is usually on the weekend, early Saturday and Sunday, like 7am-noon mountain time, give or take.
I spend the rest of my time working on the mod!
Just kidding, I opened Hammer for about half an hour, thinking about maybe doing some sort of survival map for L4D, and got overwhelmed and closed it. I'm too old to learn new things
My Steam and UT3 name is Krakn3Dfx.
