Absolutely. If this is not met with severe and painful consequences than it will happen again by someone smarter and even more callous than the orange menace.

Its going to be up to senate republicans to decide if they love their country more than they love their party when they vote to convict.
I think we all know how this is going to end. The GOP can give two fucks about America.

Oh and it should be no surprise that the various propaganda sites are working extra hard to make Donald out as the real victim in all of this. Their paranoia and bullshit has reached new peaks.

Examples:

There is no doubt in my mind serious gaslighting and brainwashing has been going on for decades. My only concern is how to correct it. If we try "stopping" them they'll just take it as an attack on their freedumbs because thats what they've been programmed to believe.

Education. Although that's a naughty word in a lot of these circles, trying to educate someone is seen as nothing but condescension no matter how it's done.

I try to at least to point them at the more straight news reporters at some of the more right publications.. Charlie Spearing at Breitbart, John Gizzi at Newsmax.. Etc. It's at least factual reporting on an outlet that is indisputably not a "left wing rag."

I think it's a forgone conclusion they love their party more. 20 years ago, it might have been country first, but the Republicans are now the Party that Gingrich forged, and Trump purged, so it's party first.

"Texas-based Hillwood Airways confirmed to USA TODAY Saturday that retired Lt. Col. Larry Rendall Brock, Jr. had been terminated following a report in the New Yorker that identified him.

Brock told the magazine that he was the man in the photos and videos seen standing in the Senate chamber holding zip ties. He told the New Yorker that he found them on the floor. "I wish I had not picked those up," he told the magazine.

Brock did not respond to several USA TODAY requests for comment Saturday.

Family members and a friend told the magazine the Air Force Academy graduate and combat veteran had grown more radical in recent years."

A big reason the south is the way it is today is because there was no real punishment for their insurrection and we allowed then to glorify their leaders.

I don't care what they whine about, we can't let them continue spreading complete bullshit and calling it news. Bring back staying station ownership rules and the fairness doctrine.

Many of these hosts should also be charged with incitement.

another one caught
"one count of unlawful entry into restricted buildings or grounds". That's it? That's the only crime they could hang on the guy?
Out of curiosity: how many of those ... seeking a pardon ... replied?
I'd like to know this as well. I also wonder if any president has ever pardoned someone for a misdemeanor.

I wonder how many more will be brought to justice?
In reference to LEO’s that participated in the insurrection, my best guess: zero will face real ramifications. The LEO’s union will appeal any firings and they’ll be reinstated with back pay. Only a handful of the most egregiously violent terrorists caught indisputably on film (or with bombs) will face any serious criminal charges, and that will not likely include any LEOs.

I'm guessing they are booking people in the obvious crimes, with more charges coming, likely including seditious conspiracy.

I'm hoping they can use trump's recent EO to give them up to 10 years.

The Other guy with Flex Cuffs was arrested. This is Not the older retired Air Force guy, but the young guy who kept his face hidden:

Law enforcement officials said the man, Eric Gavelek Munchel, 30, was taken into custody in Nashville on federal charges. One of the officials said the authorities had recovered several weapons. No further details were available. Charges were expected to be announced soon.

Note that he stormed the Capitol with his Mom:

At least they weren't wearing matching bullet proof vests:
37835222-9131713-image-a-2_1610304289134.jpg

He told The Times of London: 'We wanted to show that we’re willing to rise up, band together and fight if necessary. Same as our forefathers, who established this country in 1776. It was a kind of flexing of muscles.'

His mom, Lisa Eisenhart, 57, said: 'The left has everything: the media, organisations, the government. We have to organize if we’re going to fight back and be heard.'

The nurse, who wore a bullet proof vest like her son, added: 'This country was founded on revolution. If they’re going to take every legitimate means from us, and we can’t even express ourselves on the internet, we won’t even be able to speak freely, what is America for?

'I'd rather die as a 57-year-old woman than live under oppression. I’d rather die and would rather fight.'

Clearly more Antifa agitators...
