As BuzzFeed put it, a lot of these people seemed to be doing it for the 'Gram — it was about stroking their egos and "owning the libs," and any meaningful change would have been incidental. There were some who were clearly bent on trouble (like that man carrying zip-cuffs), but others didn't entirely grasp that they were breaking the law while they streamed or shared photos.

It's a good summary of the Trump administration, really. Lots of superficial promises, but no real substance... and they're the ones committing the real crimes.
