Gives a new meaning to "The Beverly Hill Billies"

Beverly Hills has seen more residents arrested for participating in the US Capitol insurrection than any other city in California.

More than 90% of the people charged in the riots so far are white, researchers at the Chicago Project on Security and Threats found. About 40% are business owners or have white-collar jobs, the researchers found, and compared with previous rightwing extremists, relatively few of them were unemployed.

But I'm not sure what that signifies, really or how what to conclude from it. Is it really that surprising? I mean small business owners were famously prominent among supporters of the Nazis, and indeed the unemployed were notably less likely to be Nazis than any other group. That doesn't change the fact that economic crisis was a big factor in the Nazis taking power. It's going to be those who have something to lose but aren't secure at the very top who are going to be most drawn to extreme solutions when times get tough.

More populists I see.

I like how her lawyer uses a coin termed by white supremacists as part of her defense.

He added that it was an "ironic internet joke about and against people called wignats, who are like national socialists and who are like Nazis."
The term "wignat" was coined by neo-Nazis to mock other white nationalists. The term was made popular by white nationalists including Nick Fuentes.

Despite the encouraging title,
For the bulk of the more than 300 accused rioters charged federally, prosecutors have not sought detention. Many are accused of only misdemeanor trespassing, have no criminal record and have shown work, family and community ties or public or military service. Judges have also pushed back at jailing individuals whose crimes do not involve violence.

We all know there was way more then 300 rioters attacking the police that day. Even among the ones they found, the vast majority are just going to walk away unpunished. I guess it is good to be the king white.

It does not matter who is in power, justice in American will always be racist and unfair. It accurately mirrors our society.

So what? That just means they're out on bail. It says nothing about what prosecutors will seek at trial.

I agree with what you say, it's just a sentiment of mine and (I assume) others borne over decades of witnessing how unfair our system of justice is when it comes to doling out sentencing for our diverse national demographics that gave me a notion that the OP is more right than wrong about how the insurrectionists are going to be treated.

I do hope though that maximum penalties are going to levied against all who are convicted as a warning to future "protesters" that want to exploit "demonstrations" as a means to commit crimes against the people..

See the rest of the paragraph:
Judges have also pushed back at jailing individuals whose crimes do not involve violence. Many have been spared jail unless they have been alleged to be “one of the individuals who banged down doors, sprayed pepper spray or bear spray at law enforcement officers, injured law enforcement officers, poked out eyes of police in the building,” as one judge recited in releasing a commissioner of a county in New Mexico pending trial.
They are going to get off with a slap on the wrist for being part of the crowd that illegally entered the capitol to push and enable violence and murder.

The prosecutors are not seeking detention, and the judges are not interested in giving it. It is a double get out of jail card. A demonstration of white privilege in a justice system that imprisons black people at 5x* the ratio of white people.

Please. Bail & trial are quite different. Projecting outcomes amounts to concern trolling.

How long should one be jailed for a misdemeanor?
The issue here is that you want punishment metered out on the assumption of guilt, and you want that punishment to be based on your anger and hatred toward the offenders. In the very next sentence you decry the injustice of what you believe to be the exact same thing.
Vengeance isn't justice.

If you think treason and murder should be misdemeanors you are part of the problem.

As deflections go that's as good as any, but it has nothing to do with what I said, the charges being filed, or how I feel about it. Most of those people are being charged with misdemeanors. Not murder, not treason. How would you punish them punished if they were in the parking lot waving guns and shooting at people? Surely that behavior should be punishable by a long jail sentence? Wouldn't you agree?

Pennsylvania Cop Charged With Pushing Capitol Police During Riot

Forbes|47 minutes ago

Federal authorities arrested a police officer from Pennsylvania on Friday after he allegedly charged at a line of police outside the U.S. Capitol building last month, the latest member of law enforcement accused of participating in the riot.

I wonder if his union reps will defend him?

He could possibly lose his job. Maybe Trump could get him a job. lolz

OK, so clearly you are full of shit. You cant deal with reality. The only way you can argue is by making up "alternative facts".
They all committed treason by being part of the mob that attempted to overthrow the government. I know you're fine with them getting a pass because you're part of the same mentality.
I did not deflect anything. We were not having a conversation before my post.
You and your people are so used to living in bullshit you can't even see reality any more.

Yet another angry response with no information. Anger is not a position. Anger isn't an actionable prosecution. Your entire position is that you're mad that those people aren't being punished enough, and you're mad at me foe questioning why they should be. This is childish.

How many of those people have been charged with treason? How did they intend to overthrow the government? How many people did they shoot in the attack? Who were the shooters? What was the plan to hold the facility? How many wandered around and left after taking a few selfies?
Most of those folks were just along for the ride, and they are being charged accordingly. Those few that intended actual harm will hopefully be discovered and jailed.

I'll say it again, your entire position is based on your hate for those involved. You're personally lucky that the system doesn't work that way or your ass would be in jail for attempting to shoot someone.

nice strawmanning there. A fire extinguisher killed one law enforcement officer. Others were injured by flagpoles, anything handy that could be used as a bludgeon or missile.

Sorry Shorty...by actual definition, they probably committed sedition...not treason.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

sedition

The federal crime of advocating insurrection against the government through speeches and publications. Sedition charges are rare because freedom of speech, press, and assembly are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, and because treason or espionage charges can be made for overt acts against the nation's security.

And possibly seditious conspiracy...

18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

That is what I'd prefer to see most of the conspirators charged with...because, to the average watcher, that's exactly what transpired.
