I've mostly switched to rock band, but I'll still buy future Guitar Hero games. I just tend to obsess on one game at a time lol. I played GH3 to death from the day it came out until I got Rock Band for Christmas and I've been playing Rock Band ever since, except for about 10 minutes while I tried the "Dream On" free DLC for Guitar Hero III. It was ridiculously easy so I went right back to Rock Band :)

I'm still on the fence about spending $170 on Rock Band . Especially when I don't play games often, but enjoy having the chance to play them when I want. $90 on Guitar Hero's not bad, but it's a tad bit more. Although I did see the PS3 Rock Band on sale at Wal-Mart this past weekend... guess it's not selling too well there :p. Of course the local EB has stacks for each console.

Plus, the ending song to Portal is coming to Rock Band... I might just have to get it.

I still play GH3 but not as often because I'm trying to finish off a bunch of other games. Rock Band > GH3, My only complaint is that RB and the 360 is too big for me to carry around with me.

Well I'm stuck with a Wii so no RB for me. I doubt I'll get it when it comes out for Wii either. I can't see myself spending $150+ for one game, especially with my current money status (...which is... broke).

Honestly I love Dropkick but I can't even see myself bothering to download this for free. I don't think anything could bring me back to GH. I really should sell the disks.

Wow blast from the past.

I haven't played GH3 in forever, I've thought about it a few times but RB and RB2 are more awesome-er and I usually end up playing them instead.

Thats cuz GH:WT is aping some aspects of RB. Which is a good thing, not a bad thing as I love both franchises with the exeption if GH:Aerosmith. I like the clear fretbar in RB and am happy they are doing the same for GH:WT. I really hope the do the digital surround better this time around. GH DD surround sound just sucks.

I loooove gh3! Rock Band had nothing on gh.

ummm... I'm new... so hi everyone! <3

Strong disagree, but welcome...

Thanks?!

GH3 sucked. What part of that don't you understand? It's the worst in the series, GH1 & 2 were far better. GH3 wasn't fun to play at all.

I wouldn't go that far. I had a ton of fun with it right up until I got RB.

You obviously never played Rocks the 80's if you think this was the worst in the series :) Not that I didn't have fun with RT80's... but it was the worst in the series by a country mile.

GH3 was without a doubt not as good as GH2... but it isn't necessary to go to such extremes to say it "sucked" with such conviction. It was still a good game... unless they are all exactly the same , some are always going to be better than others... that doesn't mean that everything other than the "best" one sucked.

I just want to add that I find GT:WT boring in terms of the songs themselves and that I LOVE (still) GH3. Reptillia, KoC, One, In loving Colour, Killswitch Engage; there are so many awesome songs it's ridiculous. Chalk me up as a guitar hero 3 purist.

You bumped a thread that has been dead since Oct 2008 to say THAT?!

Lol, yes. I feel compelled to to say that I think the track list in THIS game is superior, and therefore so is this game.

I don't understand such claims about guitar/band music games sucking when the core gameplay is exactly the same (and just as tight) in all music games, the only key difference is the setlist, the other differences are important and may make a game superior but none are big enough for the other game to suck, in the end, the gameplay is exactly the same in both; if you like Guitar Hero then you like Rock Band and vice-versa, there's no such thing as "sucking" with this genre unless you simply don't like the setlist.

This is incorrect - GH3 gameplay differed quite a bit from GH2. In GH3 they made the note charts ridiculous but compensated by widening all the timing windows, so you could hit a note way off but still have it register. IMHO that was a significant change for the worse. GH2 and Rock Band are done by Harmonix, the originators of the entire music game genre, while GH3 and GH:WT are by Neversoft. I wouldn't go as far as saying GH3 sucked, but I thought it was a substantial step down from GH2.

You are so wrong it's not even funny. The timing and accuracy required when you compare Rock Band to Guitar Hero is totally different.

Pheran stated it pretty well...I just wanted to add another post backing up just how totally wrong you are.
