Activision says that GH3 downloadable content will be the same 3-pack style as GH2's DLC.
Link

I say boo-urns.

Bet your house that it's going to be the Velvet Revolver, Foo Fighters, & Boss Battle packs that were talked about earlier in this thread. If it comes to pass, I can't believe they're going to try to charge us for the boss battles... @%$@%^#$$#!

I didn't pay for GH2 DLC because of this pricing structure and I won't pay for GH3 DLC for the same reason, even though I would love more Foo Fighters. I want Rock Band YESTERDAY.

Narse, I added you to the group.

As for the DLC, I can't believe they're using Velvet Revolver to hype the game through commercials, yet the song isnt in the game and you'll have to buy it.

I'm probably going to get Rock Band now just because of the DLC. I can't believe how shitty they are about GH DLC

Is there a specific word about what RB DLC will be? I knew they were releasing full album DLC, but are they doing single shots?

Link to IGN Interview with Greg LoPiccolo, vice president of product development at Harmonix:

IGN: Speaking of The Who, we know that Who's Next will be the first available DLC for Rock Band. Will you have to purchase the full album, or can you also purchase individual songs?

LoPiccolo: You will be able to purchase individual songs as well as the entire album.

IGN: How much content will be pushed out each week? Is it going to be a year of full albums or will most weeks consist of a few select songs?

LoPiccolo: We are in the process of figuring out the specifics. We probably won't be featuring a full album every week, but will be alternating between full albums and collections of select songs.

No word on price. There are a few other tidbits of information. Most importantly to me and my friends is that Journey is a possibility for DLC. I can't think of a better song to ham it up to than "Don't Stop Believin'" :p

EDIT: Of course, this interview was conducted August 3rd. A lot of suits can get greedy over a period of 3-4 months and things could change.

They are doing both supposedly. The first review and the first 3 months worth of DLC..24 songs...are being announced in the next EGM. Should hit subscribers early next week and will probably be leaked any day now.

The lack of a boss battles pack makes me think they may have realized "infuriating the customer base" is a bad business move...

Hopefully because I stick with my statement that if they charge for content that is already in the game like that, it will be the last game I ever buy from them.

Two things I dont like about this:
1) Pricing
2) The fact that we're paying for the song in the commercial for the game after we've already bought the game.

Although I think that $2 a song is a bit much, it would be easier to swallow if I wasn't forced to buy three at once. I would be much more inclined to buy one song that I really love for $2 than three that are just ok for $6, or that one awesome one and two others that I don't care for but must be purchased with the pack for $6. With GH3, as it was with GH2, sadly I'm voting against their overpriced packs but not giving them my money.

I heard they're releasing a boss battles pack later this month and that it'll be no charge.

I love Slither and VR's first album, but I hate the new stuff... I won't be buying that pack. Which is too bad as I really want Slither, but not enough for $6.

Yeah IGN said boss battles will be downloadable later, but there was no confirmation on if they will be free. Did you read that somewhere credible or just heard a rumor?

Mopeds, did you realize that Sochl is 45th out of the thousands of Tour Groups on Guitarhero.com based on the number of groupies?

C'mon Sochl members, let's push for No. 1!

Hey look, Mr. 4th-Page-on-the-Leaderboard over here wants to rally the troops! :p

Of course, I kid. I've been getting paid to work at home since the start of October so my groupie total is naturally higher... because the Expert difficulty is "WORK".

Here are the rules for getting Groupies again (down the page a bit) - Note that you get a ton of groupies just for trying new songs on each difficulty level, that includes the ~20-30 bonus songs. So get to it, gents.

Once I linked my account, I got 1st on the 2nd page :D (I think that's 6th or 7th overall). I was quite proud of myself! I think it helped that I've also beat the game in co-op mode, so now I need to get my brother to join up with me to beat it on easy and some of it on Hard (god knows I can't do hard yet, so it'd be him keeping me alive :p).

Pissed my stats still didn't update. I've completed hard, and have moved past that in Expert, and it doesn't show me as having done that at all...so confused. :(
