AMD didn't say it's 5% faster, that was speculation based on the rumored specs. (~5% faster clocks)

The AMD marketing slide, that you embedded in this very thread, says "~5% faster performance" speaking about the 7970GHz. Are you saying they released the slide based on rumored specs and "speculated" the numbers for the graphs? Or do you believe the slide is now fake?

Yeah I missed it... I just took the 5% boost from the 680 to mean ~5% more.

I take any slides from a manufacturer with a bucket of salt regardless, but this seems to fit the rumors to this point. Who knows if its even from AMD, why would they have a 770 anyway right now?

I was wondering the same thing. Unless they get perks from board partners that have working samples, I don't see how they would have numbers from a competitor's unreleased product.

if we are willing to pay - nvidia is willing to bump up price. yes we all play the price game with our wallet. point taken.

what some of you are blind to see is: obviously some of us are willing to pay extra premium for top-tier product (670/680/780/titan). we demand top performance above all expense.

if you are NOT willing to do the same. buy a 660 instead. no one is hold a gun to you to pay top premium for a premium product. so get over it.

just like anything in life.
1. if you want a toyota. buy a toyota. stop complaining that ferrrari is too epensive.
2. if you want to eat at applebees. go eat at applebees. stop complaining that 5 star formal resturant is too expensive.
3. if you want payless shoe. buy at payless shoe. stop complaining that foot locker is too expensive.
4. if you want walmart purse. buy a walmart purse. stop complainin that michaelkors/coach is too expensive

The flaw is that the same chip is now going for double the price. (Technically the successor)

By your logic, if you normally buy mid range, settle for low range for the same price. That is just supporting the markup/gouging.

Talk about near perfect timing for Nvidia. The 5870 in my fiancee's kids computer is dying. My plan to give him my current setup and build a new machine around Intels new chip will happen sooner than later. I didnt realize these chips are supposedly coming out at the end of May. I was thinking of getting him a cheapy card for the summer. But now i will just build the new machine now!

There is competition. 7970 CF for £560, 7950 CF for £430, Even Nvidias products are better such as 670 GTX SLI £580
