I was thinking after I post that reply that I completely forgot about the south (where I live too) that anything fizzy is called "coke".

Not where I live. This is GA, where Coca Cola was founded. Everywhere I've ever lived, "Coke" = "Coca Cola."

I've never see $1 for a 2-liter. The $1 1.25L isn't a sale price, it's year-round.

Really? Around here $1 for a 2-liter is an almost every week price. I do most of my grocery shopping at Shop-Rite. This week all Pepsi products are $1 for 2-liter, last week it was all Coke products 5 for $5. Next week it might be 7-Up for $1, then one week without a great soda price and then back to Pepsi again in the rotation. And if Shop-Rite doesn't have it at that price a different chain will. If you pay more than $1 you're just not trying very hard.

The still charge $1.50 for the 20oz bottles.

I still get the $1 2-liter price here frequently enough that I would never pay more. Of course, that means I need to buy 4 or 5 units...or sometimes as many as 10.

I use "Coke" as a generic term for cola. I was always moderately annoyed when a waitress would ask "Is Pepsi ok?"

I bought a 500ml Canadian Coke way back in 1994. 'Twas such an oddity I saved it as a memento of my first trip up there.

AFAIC, 20oz-ers are only worth 80¢. Guess I'm stuck in the early 2000s.
Besides 2-liters can be as low as $1.00.

Kroger here had 2l Pepsi for $0.77/each. That's cheaper than spit.

I've not saw any name brand 2L at that price in a long time. I generally buy Kroger brand 2L bottles (3 for $0.99 each with the 4th one free). Even that's went up from $0.84 to $0.99 lately.

Everything is going up, getting smaller or both.
