The grocery shrink ray strikes again - soda

Felt like a pop the other day so I went down to the shop and bought one of the single serving bottles. Man, have they gotten smaller. They used to be 591ml (20oz) and now they're only 500ml (17oz)

The smaller bottles are taller (to fool you), but skinnier. Barqs is a Coca-Cola product. Have Pepsi shrunk their bottles as well?

I have stopped buying backed chips because of that shrink ray. Actually all chips shrunk but baked chips never had as much in the bag to begin with. Too bad they will not just raise the price, i don't feel they are as greedy with a price increase compared to these sneaky tactics.

500ml bottles have been around since forever.

But a lot of stores near me have 1.25L bottles of Coke products for $1, so my pancreas won't rest any time soon.

Must have just rolled out here because that bottle of Pepsi isn't that old. The convenience store is still charging the same $2.25 for them though. What a rip off. 🙄

Wow... that Pepsi label took me back to the times when I didn't have a worry in the world.

Yeah, can't get them here anymore. A friend got me a case of them for Christmas a couple years back. Still a few left I found in the back of the closet. They're all flat now. Finally a use for my dad's shitty SodaStream. 😀

I noticed that these were beginning to show up at the local convenience marts. Are they the same price as 20 ounces? Frankly 20 ounce containers are too much soda for me. I used to think the 12-ounce cans were perfect.

this is not news.

Coke made mention of the changes a few months back. Did you notice the tiny cans in 6packs yet?

Have you tried looking for the blue label "Pepsi-Cola Made with Real Sugar?" It's replacing the Throwback in some markets...slightly tweaked formula but essentially the same idea.

I remember 10 years ago they had Dasani in 500ml bottles.

Single serving water has always been in 500ml bottles AFAIK.

Wasn't aware of it. Guess I don't buy pop often enough. I've really cut back compared to the obscene consumption during my teenage years. 😀

I've seen the tiny cans. Those are ridiculous.

It's called Pepsi Next here. It's sweetened with stevia and "sugar", but they don't specify whether that's HFCS or cane. It's pretty close to Throwback but not quite.

No, Next is something different. I've got a can on my desk right now, it's not called Throwback, doesn't have that white can.

Not the same thing. Look around for it, the packaging is really similar to standard Pepsi.

this is Canada and things are not quite the same as the States. Some products never show up here and we end up with odd things like Schweppes Dark Ginger Ale.

I can remember a time when we didn't even get Dr. Pepper. Back when I was a little kid, I always used to get one during road trips to the US.

We were lucky to get Pepsi Throwback, but it was only available for a single summer back in 2011. (BTW, those bottles I have aren't that old. Some places in Niagara were importing them).
