This PPSE push has been great! And the team has done very well at helping to get it back in the PrimeRib TdP so far.

A few days from now the next PrimeRib challenge should help solidify PPSE being in the Tour de Primes in February!!!

Looking forward to the heat and the power bill :)!

These small PPSE unduced Primes will likely fall out out of the top 5k quickly, but they are fun to have in the top 5k while they last!!!!!

What? You silly! The next PrimeRib challenge starts in a few days. But the Tour De Primes!!!!! Runs all of February?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to have all CPU and GPU on PrimeRib all through February, and then you can save some $ after that! So you go DARK in MarkMarch! :)

FEBrUary is THE Month to go crazy hunting for Primes for the TdP in February!!!!

Both GPU and CPU projects are eligible!!!

I'm happy that the PPSE project is in the top 5k so far, but these baby primes need to have some Parents :)

I think they apped the minimum again.
The PPSE workunits which are ready-to-send or in-progress right now have a range from 615,736 to 630,230 digits. (From subproject status.) But it is likely that WUs as small as 615,736 are just a few which were buffered on hosts for unusually long, while most of the currently computed PPSE WUs are likely in the 629,000...630,000 range.

Meanwhile, T5k has progressed such that its entry at rank 5000 has got 628,405 digits. That is, if hosts download PPSE WUs now and compute them soonish, rather than buffering them for several days, then their PPSE prime finds will make it into T5k. (PPSE's current leading edge with 630,230 digits would make it to T5k rank 4950.) Vice versa, if you were to find a prime in an "older" PPSE workunit with a creation date of about two days ago, then that would not make it into T5k anymore. (PPSE currently oldest unfinished WU with 615,736 digits was created on January 3. The PPSE workunit of the current T5k rank 5000 prime with 628,405 digits was created on January 15, 12:59 UTC.)

Of the current T5k entries at ranks 4950...5000, about 50% were added just in January 2025, and all of these new additions appear to be from the PPSE project.

Every time you find one the minimum goes up. Some of those 15 are no longer eligible.

You know, @Markfw, if you want to save power, you could shut off PrimeGrid for the next 47 hours or so. PPSE looks pretty secure for TdP in February, and work not downloaded after the start of the challenge doesn't count for the challenge.

Well, I got a bunch of tasks for PPSE queued up, so rather than abort a lot, I set everything to "no new work". Lets see what it looks like tomorrow at this time. Only 27 hours to empty all the queues.
