And since pretty much half the arguments going on here are that I'm 12, I'll tell you I'm 18. And if the argument is that I simply don't like the movie because I'm not old enough to enjoy it, or whatever, I'm willing to consider that theory. If the argument is that because I'm young I don't like older movies then the argument is worthless BS.

I, in turn, think you are being awfully thin-skinned. Honestly your original post seems pretty pointless, and like shameless trolling - you have come here, and said you think the Godfather series "blow," although essentially every film critic will tell you they are the nadir of filmmaking and arguably the greatest films in American history. I have never met an adult with a brain who didn't love them (other than nihilists like Electric Amish, who find pleasure in being negative, and take pride in being different, even if it means praising Hudson Hawk over the Godfather). First of all, I don't really give a sh1t if you say I have the mental age of a 12 year old. Lets be honest, I had to say something back.

Also, I never asked anyone to convince me the movies were awesome. I simply asked reasons why other people think they are great.

The first two are amazing movies...I have yet to watch anything that holds my interest nearly as well for 3+ hours. They're also as realistic a look into mafia life as you're going to get (beyond some aspects of the Sopranos, and a few of those documentaries floating around). Beyond that, as everyone else has mentioned, so many different aspects of the films are amazing: character development, camera work, scripting, set/costume design, etc.

I watched them when I was much younger, and had to see them again a few years ago to truly appreciate them.

hmmm...a lot of people have said this...this is a possibility. I like a lot of other older movies though. Maybe you just need to be a little older for these particular movies...

I've also noticed that since i started this thread I've gotten 4 ratings...I've been on here since march 2002 and never received a rating, and suddenly i have a unanimous rating of 1.0...sounds like some people are a little bit too defensive of their Godfather movies hehe

Yeah, this is definitely the reason paul. You aren't nearly "deep" enough to really understand them. Maybe you should take a few more philosophy classes or something.

edit: and most people say that the Godfather movies are great because that's what everyone else says. I bet half the people who praise the godfather haven't even seen it.
