First 2 movies are the greatest movies ever IMO.

Maybe you need to watch them a second time...

i haven't seen the Godfather yet, but it's on my "watch" list. I thought Scarface sucked balls..what's the deal with that one? Now Goodfellas, Casino, and any of the other Deniro gangster movies were awesome.

Yeah I was wondering if maybe someone who thinks these movies don't suck could possibly elaborate on why they think they are so great...reasons?

Scarface, The Godfather I, II and Goodfellas are infinitely better than Casino.
Casino is an extremely thin story stretched into 3 hours stretched into numerous cliches and music.
i swear there isnt 5 minutes of that movie where some classic rock or oldies song isnt playing in the background.
the songs are fine in and of themselves, but if i wanted to listen to a jukebox, i would do that instead.

I have a feeling you're young and jaded by the mafia genre. The Godfather was...well, the Godfather of all modern gangster flicks. Godfather 2 is one of the greatest family stories ever put to film.

I'm going to have to disagree - when you have four (4) hours of precious life you wish to p!ss away in agonizing boredom, struggle to watch Once Upon A Time in America, starring Rob DeNiro and Joe Pesce (among other big names)

Not really...I liked goodfellas and scarface was decent (just way too long)...I like the mafia-type movies...

But really it's amazing how someone with a different opinion is automatically young and jaded....
 
what was so good? the acting, the directing, the screenplay, everything.

Isn't Godfather used as the defacto teaching movie for filmaking classes?

I watched it once after getting into the mob movies one summer. It just seemed very slow. I haven't seen it since... maybe I need to see it again. Then again, I thought Pulp Fiction was the worst movie ever until I saw it a second time.

The fact that you dislike Godfather and like Scarface/Goodfellas leads me to believe you are a teenager. Watch Godfather again when you are in college or early/mid 20's. I don't mean this in a negative way seriously and am actually speaking from personal experience with my like/dislike of the series.
